The Mineral Springs Hotel opened in June 1914, founded by brothers August and Herman Luer after workers discovered a natural mineral spring beneath the site during construction. The water, rich in sulfur and believed to have curative qualities, inspired the brothers to build a grand spa-hotel resort instead of an ice warehouse. Designed in an Italian Villa style with terrazzo floors, marble staircases, and art glass, the hotel boasted mineral baths, Turkish baths, a restaurant, saloon, rooftop gardens, and what was once touted as the “largest swimming pool in Illinois.” It became a popular regional destination for health seekers and social gatherings throughout the 1910s and into the 1920s. Over the decades the hotel flourished, adding rooms and entertainment, but by the 1960s business declined as travel patterns changed and hydrotherapy claims lost appeal. The hotel closed permanently in 1971 after decades of wear, and in 1978 the long-empty building was restored and repurposed as a shopping mall and event space known today as Mineral Springs Mall, housing shops, a curiosities museum, and community events. What truly sets the Mineral Springs Hotel apart in local memory, however, is its reputation for hauntings. Stories abound of spirits lingering in the old corridors, pool area, and stairwells — from the Jasmine Lady, said to be accompanied by the scent of jasmine perfume, to shadowy figures near the former pools, and tales of other apparitions tied to tragedies from the hotel’s past. Whether legend or experience, these ghostly tales have become a defining part of the building’s modern identity and draw visitors on guided paranormal tours. #VozDosCriadores #screammovie #mineralspringshotel #illinois #haunted

I went here for a paranormal investigation. I wasn't disappointed. I got some pictures of paranormal entities and some short videos of them as well. Most of the ghosts were either in the ballroom area or around the pool area. I met some nice people and had a fun evening! I can't post the videos but if you go to my I SPI Ghosts group page on Facebook, you can view all the videos from this location as well as all my other cool pix and videos! This place has a VERY cool gift shop that I could have easily spent a small fortune in. Definitely worth the visit!!

Haunted mall? Yes of course! The feel of this place is wierd but is has a lot of history to it. Tours are available and there is a psychic fair every once in a while. If you are in any way tuned into a higher power, dont go to the bathroom here! If you are brave enough to go, the bathrooms are very clean and pristine. The shops are owned by nice people and the inside looks interesting! There is also a curiosity museum that is very cool!

We've always enjoyed this beautifully awkward building and all of her stories. We have attended many ghost tours for fun over the two decades of residency here in town. There has been a variety of shops who have come and gone over the years. Currently, the torture museum is great to explore & interesting! The kids loved it. As are the "ghosts caught on film" photographs in glass cases in the entry hall. The Zen shop is newer, our experience was less than acceptable. The proprietor is very unfriendly, not customer oriented. Whilst we aren't negative people, we will not be returning there. But we do recommend taking a look around at the architecture, and curious finds. such...

Ghost Hunts USA had a paranormal investigation here. It was an interesting experience, and folks interested in old buildings had an opportunity to see parts not open to the general public. The mall on the first level is an eclectic mix of shops serving those who have an interest in things beyond what we can see. Loved seeing these shops and visiting this historic spot. Not for us oldsters with mobility issues developing. All in all it was...
