We arrived about an hour before closing time. There was no host/hostess at the stand so we waited. The guy at the front register dealing with take out orders didn't acknowledge us. Eventually some one came and sat us in the far back room which had a table of 6 people already seated and it was pretty clear they were drinking and being pretty loud. Due to the room acoustics, this was a horrible place to seat us. We sat there with our menus for quite a long time before a waiter finally showed up and took our order. He had not been informed that he had a new table. We had the Green chile stew which was disappointing as it seemed as if it was just thrown together right before serving and not cooked together or incorporated as a stew should be. The bowl did not have enough broth to cover the ingredients. (see photo) The chunks of meat in the stew were very firm and not tender. The other dish we had was the New Mexico chicken enchiladas that are made with blue corn tortillas and topped with green sauce. The sauce was good, the chicken was tender and well seasoned but I had to ask for a knife to cut it. It just kept falling apart as those tortillas couldn't be cut with a fork. The blue corn tortillas ended up being too chewy and in some cases too hard since the sauce did not soften them up enough. The flavor just didn't seem to work together with the chicken, cheese and sauce. I would recommend using regular flour tortillas to get a better flavor. The rice and beans were good. My margarita finally arrived when I was about finished with my meal after I reminded my server I had ordered one and asked if it was coming still. When we left and walked back through the restaurant, there were still people on other rooms eating and talking but it was noticeably quieter and we were envious that we hadn't been sat in a better place. Overall I probably wouldn't return here as the food is overpriced and not great. Add the noisy environment and less than stellar customer service and it just isn't worth it.

Best food! Food is very flavorful. The salsa was delicious. My soup had a punch of flavor. I would say this would be New Mexico and Texas at best. Thanks for the memories.

My husband and I were there today during lunch and had a terrible experience. We have been coming there for several years but will not be back after today. We ordered the menudo and tortilla soup. My tortilla soup had a bone in it and a piece of plastic wrap. After I found these items in my soup my husband took a closer look at his menudo and also found a black piece of plastic netting that looked like a piece of the bag that you see avocados in. We called the waiter and told him what we found and he was very nice and apologized but then a woman manager came with a napkin and just wanted to take the bone and plastic pieces away but never asked if we wanted something different. We asked to speak with Tino, who I believe is one of the owners and had to wait several minutes for him to arrive at our table and when he did all he asked was what was the problem and asked if we wanted something else when we said no because we lost our appetites he just grabbed our bowls and walked away as if we were just wasting his time. We didn’t want anything free, this food was a choking hazard and that was the only reason we wanted to speak to him but apparently he had something more important to do than to stop and listen or to even apologize.

Extremely Disappointed with Service and Management

Our group of 22 people visited this restaurant for lunch after attending a nearby event. While we understood that a large party might be a challenge, the level of service we received was unacceptable from start to finish.

Upon arrival, we were met with an unwelcoming attitude from our server. One guest politely asked for Sweet’N Low for their unsweet tea, and the server dismissively said, “It’s on the table.” After checking the caddy and realizing there were none, we tried to show him, but instead of offering to bring some, he simply walked away. Another member of our group ended up getting packets from a different table.

From that point forward, things only got worse. The server seemed completely overwhelmed, and it quickly became clear he was unprepared to handle a group of our size. When asked about splitting checks before taking out orders, he seemed confused and chose to take orders down the line which resulted in long delays, misplaced orders, and general chaos. Many people didn’t get their food until nearly the end of the meal, and some plates were delivered to the wrong people. We even received food meant for a different table.

The disorganization continued with drink orders, drinks were mixed up, not refilled, or forgotten altogether. The staff began loudly calling out food orders to the table, creating more confusion, especially with children present.

At the end of the meal, the server struggled to accurately split the checks, apparently due to poor note taking and lack of preparation. Guests had to approach the counter and manually explain their orders so tickets could be corrected.

The most disappointing part was the response from management. A manager came over and told the group that “next time” we should know they don’t usually split large checks, a comment that felt condescending and unprofessional, especially considering we had no warning ahead of time. Instead of taking accountability for the lack of staff training and preparedness, the blame was subtly shifted onto the customers.

This was not a case of an understaffed busy day the restaurant was not even at full capacity when we arrived. There was one young, visibly inexperienced server attempting to handle the entire group, and it was clear he was overwhelmed from the start.

Unfortunately, the food was average at best, and the service was frustrating, slow, and unorganized. We do not plan to return, and based on this experience, I would not recommend this restaurant to others, especially not for group dining. Customer service and proper staffing should be a priority, not an afterthought. If I could rate 0...

First of all, I never leave reviews because I feel like most of the time people are just griping about their experience. However, I feel like the other reviews on this restaurant were so off base that I need to comment. I am from out of town, Fort Worth . I stayed in the area near this restaurant and read the reviews. I was a little apprehensive, to say the least. However, I did not want to drive and I was looking for a drink with dinner. I immediately went to the bar since I was dining by myself. I didn’t have to wait the staff was very prompt and attentive. The chips and salsa was absolutely fantastic. They gave me three different types of salsa to choose from. All pretty spicy which is a huge plus for me. I ordered the chicken and “New Mexican green chili” enchiladas. I have to tell you… this is the green sauce that I’ve been waiting for for about 20 years!!!! I used to go to a restaurant in Midland Texas that had the best green sauce I’ve ever had in my life and this one have the same green sauce.! I was so excited. I kept eating even though I was full because it was so good! I will absolutely go back. The company at the bar was talkative and friendly. The bartenders were attentive and even the house margarita was awesome. No need to add Don Julio.l, I promise. Even though they were busy, the staff did pay attention to just me and I got everything that I needed. I would go back, even if I wasn’t driving through Amarillo. I have had many terrible dining experiences as a single, professional mom, but this place exceeded all my...
