Stay away from this pawn shop! I had a bad feeling the minute I pulled into their drive way. The owner came out and told me I couldn't park in his drive way. At this time American Fork was jam packed. I had no where to park. I had to drive about 2 blocks away to park, and then carry all of my stuff to this pawn shop. I didn't mind and was willing to do it since I needed the cash. When I walked in I noticed only two employees on duty. A man and a woman too busy looking at stuff on the computer to even greet me, or help me in the pawn shop. When I finally walked up to the counter with my stuff I told them I wanted to show them my items. The man working there at the time just blankly stared at me thinking "Why is this guy talking to me?". I showed the guy the following items. A new pair of bose headphones, a marble chess set, and a Alto Saxophone with plenty of accessories (Selling for over $500 on ebay with accessories included). The man examined the items and went onto ebay to look up the value of the items. Now I went onto ebay before walking into the pawn shop to get an idea on what I should ask for, for the items. I wanted $60 for the new bose headphones (Valued around $130-150), I wanted $100 for the handmade marble chess set (Valued around $350-500), and I wanted $200 for the saxophone. The man tried to rip me off and was a terrible businessman. He offered me $50 for the saxophone despite seeing it sell for $500, he offered me $10 for the bose headphones, and offered me $15 for the marble chess set. When I questioned his offers he said "I don't think you understand how a pawn shop works". I told him I wouldn't be coming back just to be ripped off again, and left. The people working there have no idea how to run a business. I know how a pawn shop works. The entire idea is to level with the costumer. Don't lie to their faces and offer them a fair offer. A offer that would allow you to make a fair profit, and a fair offer that you would actually pay for the item. Don't trust these people, they are dishonest, they don't care about their customers, and they have no idea how to...
Read moreThe negative reviews here don't match any of my experiences in this store at all. I've done a fair amount of business with these folks and I've never gotten a bad attitude - quite the opposite actually. The employees (and the owner as well) have never been anything other than polite and courteous to me.
They've also never argued or balked at what I asked for loans on the items I've pawned there, but then again, I understand that this is a business, and don't ask for a loan that leaves them no room for profit margin should I default for some reason...it's simple business economics guys.
I can tell you that this is one of the nicest pawn stores I've been in, and I've been in more than a few at my age. The merchandise is all clean and in excellent condition (this is NOT your typical pawn shop!), and the items I've priced there (especially electrical test equipment) are very reasonable.
Don't let negative reviews keep you from visiting this store, go in and check them out for yourself. I did, and I was very pleasantly surprised. I think you...
Read moreI've dealt with Kevin & the others that work here & I've had the best of the best experiences. People have said to me that only theives go here because they'll buy stolen stuff from you. That's kinda funny because that happens AT ALL PAWN SHOPS. They don't know anything is stolen until the paperwork goes to the police & they look it up. Then & only then do they know if it's stolen or legit. Crackhead,That there not. People write bad reviews on here because this place won't give them what they paid for an item or even what they want over and above the ite,so value. There a business & have to make money also,So to say there ripping everyone off is a false statement. I have seen them give people much more for an item than what I would ever pay for out of my pocket. (Kevin & the rest of you just keep up the awesome work you...
