It took me weeks to decide to color my hair so you can imagine my excitement when I went to my appointment. I was told the hair design I wanted could be completed in one session but after the bleach, I was then told to reschedule. I understand that my hair needs the bleach but I was disappointed that my stylist wasn’t honest with me and took the time to walk me through the process. Now, half my hair is bleached to a brassy orange blonde color which is so ugly! I didn’t mind it because I thought she was going to color my hair, not live it that way! The next day I called to ask about the next steps cause she left me in the dark. I’m panicking and I just want to fix my hair but I have no clue what’s happening and how long the process will take to get my desire hair color. The receptionist who answered the phone said the 2nd session is going to be another foil… what does that mean? Will there be a 3rd session to put color in my hair? I’m so frustrated at this point because I’m not sure what’s going on and how long I’ll have to live with this brassy color. I left a message with the staff to get a call back from my stylist but I didn’t hear from her so I ended up canceling my follow-up appointment and will find another stylist who can be upfront, honest, and transparent with me. I’m giving this place two stars because the staff was welcoming and this is partially my fault, I shouldn’t have trusted the professional and did my own research before asking them to do my hair.
update: 5/1/2017 Thanks for calling to explain the multi-step process! It really helped calmed my nervousness. I'm looking forward to my next appointment on Thursday with...
Read moreI've been going to V&V for a little over year, and initially was impressed. The vibe is good, cute dogs, and my hair was never cut more than what I specified. I recently moved out of Ames and had intended to find a different salon. I haven't found a place that I trust yet, and I'm looking to make a more drastic change, so I booked with the location in Ankeny, which is closer to me, thinking the experience would be the same as Ames. The day of the appointment, I got a call saying that they needed to reschedule. Neither time they offered worked for me, and when I asked why I couldn't have the time as originally booked, I was told it conflicted with another appointment. I opted to cancel, and reschedule at the Ames location. Farther, but at least I could have the same stylist and experience that I've had on many previous visits. Yesterday, I received a call telling me that they needed to reschedule my appointment for today for earlier in the day. This doesn't work for me, as I work during the day and making it to Ames by 4:15, the scheduled time, is a stretch. When I told them this, they said, okay we'll keep it for now and call back if it doesn't work. Today I got a call saying that Joshua had something come up, and they need to move my appointment. I'm confused about a few things. If something "just came up," how did they know about it yesterday? If an appointment time unavailable, why allow me to schedule it? It seems to me that loyalty to their business should be better rewarded than multiple canceled appointments. I won't be going back, and if you enjoy consistently scheduled appointments, I'd recommend that you...
Read moreWent in for a men's cut and eyebrow waxing. I told him exactly what I'd wanted done with my hair and brows. At no point did i feel like i was anything more than someone they'd wanted to get in and out as quickly as possible. No clarifying questions for what I'd requested, and i actually felt bad when I'd asked them to fix my eyebrows after he'd asked if they were done correctly (they weren't), i didn't want to deal with the drama so i just said okay. The waxing left a painful tear on my underbrow skin. He assured me he knew what I'd wanted and needed but proved me otherwise. I was left several times for my hairdresser to do other things other than attend to my appointment. I asked for a correction on length twice for the haircut and it still was not fixed. I felt uncomfortable with the unprofessional and cold attitudes and conversations, i can't stress enough how I felt very out of place. Will have to fix my brows myself because i thought the price would have equalled the quality of my visit. Left with hair and wax all over my face and hair in my ears... was not expecting a face full of my own hair when he used a blow dryer from behind to blow it off of my shoulders. Not somewhere I'd recommend going to, and i don't believe I'll be going back myself. I can't believe how disappointing my experience was, i was really looking forward to that appointment. Never got the name of the stylist.
EDIT: This was at the...
