Edit to add disgusting photos of breakfast room. Sink is covered in what looks like toothpaste spit. It was like this both mornings. Also, the hot & cold water in the bathtub and shower are backwards. Take note and save yourself a scalding. Lastly, on the second day ALL our key cards were deactivated. Management at the front desk scolded us/accused us of keeping our key cards next to our phones as that can deactivate them. We had not. Booked online and prepaid in full but during check-in the manager insisted we had not paid and tried insistently to double charge us. Had to produce printed confirmation of booking receipt to convince him because pulling up the email on my phone was not good enough for him. After we provided proof, he initially would only admit one of our rooms had been prepaid and tried to double charge us for just the second room. We had to spend over 5 minutes pointing out that our confirmation was for 2 rooms both prepaid in full. It even said that at the top of the emailed confirmation, "prepaid in full." He stared at that page repeatedly and rudely insisted that no, we hadn't paid, and even wanted us to produce a credit card statement as proof! He actually requested I log in to my credit card app on my phone!! At this point I started researching other hotels in the neighborhood and was going to drive to the Holiday Inn instead, and call my credit card company for a dispute charge refund of this scam hotel, when suddenly the manager said there had been a computer error and admitted we had already paid. The check-in farce wasn't over though. Our booking was for handicap accessible rooms, but they tried to put us upstairs. They actually asked us if a second floor room was okay, and no, they did not say anything about an elevator! It took about 10 minutes and the fetching of a second employee to get the rooms changed to the ground floor. Again, our prepaid reservation was specifically for handicap accessible rooms. At no point did anybody apologize for either mix-up. Indeed, we were made to feel like we were a hassle for expecting them to honor the ADA handicap accessible room we had reserved in advance. Our credit card was immediately frozen after all the weird swiping they did during check-in so after this disaster of a hotel stay we are expecting bogus charges to show up on our statement anyway. If you ignore this review and stay here anyway, check your statement carefully and don't trust this incompetent place. We will never be back and we do not recommend this motel. I would rather sleep in my car on the street.

Stay far away! I recently stayed at this location for only a day (originally supposed to be a 4 day stay) for work. It was so bad that I decided to switch hotels to the Marriott. When I first entered the hotel, it smelled like straight sewer, and it was probably 85° in the lobby area - a great combination and immediate first red flag. After I provided my name, the manager demanded I put down my credit card even though my work had provided a card at the time of making the reservation AND had authorized the card a couple of days prior. He claimed it was for incidentals but finally allowed me into the room. The room was on the second floor right above the lobby and again smelled of straight sewer and was even hotter than the lobby. The room was disgusting and filthy- from the light switches, floors, random hairs in the sheets and pillows, mold in the fridge, stains on the pillows and sheets and a huge food stain/ grease on the remote. Luckily I brought disposable sheets and pillow cases. I'd that wasn't bad enough, the event coordinator for my work asked where I was staying. I simply replied 'days inn' to which she said 'absolutely not, that's where I told everyone NOT to stay. That place rents rooms by the hour if you know what I mean. Everyone knows that place is terrible'. After I was told that I immediately called around and changed my hotel to the marriott, which is only a couple minutes away. Not only is it disgusting but clearly not a safe place to stay. Please do yourself a favor, don't stay here, even if it is the cheapest place to go. It's not worth your health and safety. The pictures below are the mold in fridge, weird stain on the remote, pubic hair on coffee cups and stains on the pillows.

I stayed here from Friday to Monday. I was there for the State Games of America events. The room was basic but comfortable. The location is on the strip with many restaurants (some within walking distance) and a Walmart and Target less than five minutes away. The Iowa State University campus is less than ten minutes away. The service leaves something to be desired. The TV service stopped working Saturday night and after it was reported it wasn't fixed. When I was attempting to check out no one was at the desk. After waiting 15 minutes I had to walk around and find someone to check out with. If you’re in town for a conference or a sporting event and don't plan on being in the room much I would recommend this hotel.

The manager and his wife are straight up axxholes from the second I checked in til the very last moment the police were called on me and my boyfriend who stopped by to visit unrightfully so before my reservation was even over. I had stayed here for about 1 week and 3 days out of the 2 weeks I had reserved my room for. As soon as I go to check in, the man was riding on my hind end like be was my father telling me the rules of the house "No smoking in the rooms, No pets, and nobody else can stay in the room besides you". As if I couldn't comprehend common knowledge on my own, I see the signs on the desk! And every time I seen him, whether it was passing in the hallway or at the front desk or even in the parking lot, HE WOULD STARE AT ME DIRECTLY and then state those 3 same rules that I'd already heard 16× from him the previous day. My man would come in and visit me throughout the day whenever he got a break at work and then come in around 4-5am and leave by 7am. I asked the manager for another key because I lost mine at the gas station last night and he got so annoyed and irritable, I told him I was so sorry... HIS RESPONSE SENT ME! He said, aggressively, There is no sorry, you better be careful, I will not give you any more cards" Whatever, let it go, right? Well, fast forward, my man went downstairs to get some toilet laper and he tells my boyfriend that he is staying in the room with me and that I am only paid fr for one person, so he needed to leave and he didnt want him coming back to that hotel angmore. He CALLED THE POLICE HIM!!! Mind you, my man is the only black person in the hotel building at this point. We feel as though we were discriminated against due to our interracial relationship. So we ended up having to leave.and apparently you can only have visitors over during the times that the hospital would allow visitors for the patients. Rooms and bedding are gross and run down....

This is THE WORST experience I have had in my entire life. I had to give one start but in reality it would be a flat 0.

Andy Patel is the manager of the hotel. The worst communication and manners I have seen in my life. We had three guests in our room, one of us got there early and checked in first and the other two came in later in the evening. There was nobody in the lobby so we had to call to ask for a room key. Andy Patel came out with a very upset face (looked like we woke him up) and would not accept our information to check us in. He made it very clear that someone had already checked in even though the reservation was under our name. He was very rude and kept yelling at us saying “I don’t know you and I am not going to give you a key” even though we kept trying to show him our reservation and our driver’s license. He never even once took a look at the information we were trying to show him more than three times.

I called my friend (who was already in the room sleeping) and she let us in. By the time we were going to get our suitcases to go to our room, he called the police on us. The police had to even tell him to calm down as he kept yelling at us a using the F word MULTIPLE TIME. Ultimately, the police said that we had to leave the hotel upon his request. Completely absurd situation due to lack of manners and overall hotel hospitality.

Andy Patel SHOULD NOT be in a management position and I truly hope this gets escalated to corporate. Worst person I have ever seen in a position where customer service is key!

Oh and he said he was not going to give us a refund. Good thing our credit card company has everything resolved now and we got a full refund clearly, not thanks to Andy.

Please do yourself a favor and do not stay at this hotel. Once again, Andy Patel SHOULD NOT be a...
