No Escape Iowa — Local services in Ames

I could not be more blown away by the service that we received and the game that we played. I had to reschedule twice and they were able to hold my reservation money and reschedule with me. There was no penalty for changing the dates. Also, the day of we ended up having 4 people out of our party of 7 cancel due to illness. They refunded me for the missing individuals even though I told them day of. We were supposed to do Ghostly Figures, which is a game for a larger party. They advised us that we might want to do a different room with only 3 people. We asked what they could do, and they were able to get us into Escape from Camelot within the next 90 minutes! Day of! We did the Camelot room with 3 seasoned adults and escaped in 41:24. It was an engaging room with multiple puzzles that can be worked on at the same time. I like when all the different parts of the room/ambiance are utilized, and in my opinion this room did it very well.

Had a fantastic time doing the haunted church escape room! My wife and I have done upwards of 11 escape rooms, and despite being more or less home-made this was among the most inventive and interesting. Its packed with practical effects and some surprisingly high tech puzzles that you almost certainly won't have seen before. Difficulty is high, we escaped with seconds to spare, when we tend to have 10-15 minutes remaining. The room is big, so bigger groups that divide and conquer will have a much easier time. The owner is extremely friendly, and also runs another Ames mainstay The Mucky Duck, which is the best, if not the only, option for British cuisine in Iowa as far as I'm concerned. We had a group of 3rd graders do an escape room for our boys birthday. They did the Teachers Pet and loved it. It took them 1 hour 7 minutes to complete it and did need help/clues from staff along the way but still had a great time. We appreciated that the kids could do the room on their own while the adults were able to watch them do the room from the viewing lounge. They also allowed the group to go over the 1 hour time so they could complete the entire room. I so appreciated that they didn't stop the group and say you didn't make it. The staff were very patient and just the right amount of helpful to keep the group motivated and solving without spoiling any fun. We can't wait to come back and do a room with the adults and...
