Madison County Historical Society — Attraction in Anderson

Was a bit disappointed. I wanted to know about early settlers, native American settlements and the white river and Anderson pre car factories. I wasn't allowed to see the museum without a guide. Ok fine. But the man who showed me around just didn't have the acuity or articulation to offer much insight. The small businesses and Anderson of the 19th and early 20th was interesting. But the obsession of the car factories and high school gyms and mascots and the fact he spent the majority of the tour showing factory pictures and car parts was boring. Very little about other parts of the county or how the different towns came into being. Madison County is so much more then long gone car factories and high school gyms and much older than both...

I love the ladies who volunteer there! They are so sweet and love to learn, they are so passionate about what they do and the history that they are curating. One volunteer Carol took the blueprints to my historical home and searched for the original architect for me. She even found some history on my home. I finally went in for a tour and that place is huge! The museum has so much stuff! It's definitely worth it, you'll learn a lot and enjoy all their artifacts, I...

For a small town, this museum is humongous. With such a large variety of items and topics displayed in the expansive exhibits, you definitely won't be disappointed. Moreover, their staff is extremely knowledgeable, making the tour very interesting and worth your while.
