If you’re looking to purchase camera gear, I recommend for you to seriously consider the Camera Mall in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
I was looking to purchase a Tamron 70-200mm DI VC USD G2. While I like to patronize local businesses, especially in light of the past year, I saw a very tempting special online. I called the Camera Mall (who is an official dealer of many photography brands) informing them that I saw the special, where I saw it and asked if there was any way they could meet or partially meet that special because I wanted to patronize them.
Although they were very busy at the time, I was informed by the employee that they would look into it and the manager would return my call that day. In no way did they make me feel that I was a bother even though the store was busy. The manager, Emma, returned my call shortly afterwards, thanked me for inquiring and informed me that she could fully honor that particular online special. She was very friendly and expedited my request.
Additionally, because I have to continue social distancing she quickly set up my special purchase online providing everything I needed to quickly handle the purchase of my lens and thanked me for calling them to do business with them. They also offered to ship it to me for free, but I wanted to drive down to pick it up myself. They have very easy curbside service.
The Camera Mall has a new location which is fantastic. They now have a parking lot, so it’s easy to park and shop without dealing with finding a parking space, walking long distances, or dealing with parking meters. It’s a wonderful big new store so I look forward in the future to going in and looking around.
All of the staff were courteous, knowledgeable and expedited all of my requests. They gave me all of the benefits of shopping online without rushing me off the phone. They are knowledgeable AND courteous! I’ve purchased from them in the past and certainly will continue to do so. The Camera Mall definitely has my business, highly...
Read moreThe employees with whom I interacted were all very helpful and courteous. My friends introduced me to the Camera Mall. For two hours, we asked Jared many questions, which he answered thoroughly and patiently. He is an excellent resource. He is able to take complex concepts and make them understandable. He also brings out similar items, describes the differences, considers the type of photography one likes to do, and makes appropriate recommendations.
If you are at the Camera Mall, you can also test different pieces of equipment, which I did the following day on my way home. I requested that they mail my purchase since I live in a different state so I could avoid paying taxes in two states. They mailed it the day I purchased it, but I needed to call to request the email with the tracking, which got missed because they were so busy. Additionally, two different employees were caring for me, so it could have happened in the handoff as well. Despite this glitch, I have already shopped for more photography-related equipment on their website.
If you live in the Ann Arbor area or just passing through, I highly recommend a visit to the store. It is smaller than B&H (in NYC) in every way, but the Camera Mall provides similar services with a more small town feel. When you walk into the store, you immediately notice that both film and digital photography are valued. The film supplies are the first display on the left as you enter. B&H is so huge, I do not know if they had film supplies displayed, especially since I was looking for specific things and did not go to every section of their store. I left the Camera Mall feeling like I had made friends and could call for reliable information. I highly recommend the...
Read moreThe folks at CameraMall are amazing, knowledgeable, and very helpful. They did an amazing job with developing my family trip photos and almost got me into film photography.
I impulse bought a little disposable camera for a family trip and spent a good long while wracking my brain to find a place to develop the film. Luckily, I accidentally stumbled on CameraMall while searching. They were able to develop the film, print the photos, return the negatives, and email the digital copies. I had so much fun with the camera and getting the photos that the next time my friends were back in town, I went to CameraMall to get another disposable camera and they were able to recommend a different brand that would work better for taking pictures of city nightlife. Again I had a great time taking pictures and they did a wonderful job developing the film. They made the process so easy that I genuinely started considering just buying a film camera for fun trips. They have many options at the store for different types of cameras and film sizes and the only thing that stopped me is the fact I moved too far away to go there on a semi-regular basis and there is no camera store near me now that can hold a candle to...
