The University of Michigan Golf Course is a true gem—steeped in history, beautifully maintained, and a fantastic challenge for players of all skill levels. The layout demands precision from tee to green, with rolling fairways, elevated approaches, and fast, undulating greens that reward solid shot-making.
During our recent Veteran Golfers Association event, the course delivered in every way. The staff was organized and courteous, helping ensure smooth check-in and a seamless event experience. Conditions were top-notch across the board, from lush fairways to tournament-speed greens.
What stands out most is the atmosphere—there’s a sense of tradition and pride here that you can feel throughout the property. The views of the Big House and the classic collegiate architecture add to the experience, making it more than just a round of golf.
If you get the chance to play here—take it. Whether you're a Wolverine or just a fan of great golf, this course belongs on your...
Read moreFirst time ever playing a Mackenzie course. Very scenic. Much more rolling and elevated than expected. Lot of blind shots. Heavily bunkered around greens and fairways. You need to be able to hit reasonably straight. Took me a few holes to figure out how to get out of the sand with any distance. We played White/Maize tees which still gave us all we could handle. Greens are tricky, fast with a-lot of break. Multiple tees to fit your game/handicap. Lot of views with Ann Arbor campus in background and the various athletic buildings including the Big House. Staff was friendly. I bought a yardage book which helped with hole direction and layout with the blind shots. Just a bit over-priced on some wearable items. Overall a great course. Worth...
Read moreLove, love, love this course! My first time ever golfing it was July 6th 2022 and it did not disappoint. My only "knock" would be we weren't allowed to ride a cart due to the weather, but that just shows the amount of care the facility takes to keep it as prestine as possible so that isn't that bad to me. The walking was tedious, with all the ups and downs and I have a beat up knee, but the quality of the course was great. I do think they accidentally overcharged me for my polo I bought in the clubhouse, I got the guest rate instead of student or club rate (I am a former student). Overall, great course and great facility and staff was friendly and courteous! I will be back for another go-round when I'm able...
