This place is a gem and definitely the business I'll miss the most if/when I move out of the area. The staff and owners are friendly and genuinely care about their mission/values, which is reflected in their business model. The farmers set the prices and have stakes in the management of the place, which is definitely a more collaborative & ethical structure than most other bougie-health-market-cafe type places I've seen. Its really unfortunate how uncommon this business model is, but its encouraging to see their dedication to wanting to make it more common in the industry and help similar businesses succeed! I learned that they had a direct hand in helping Farmers Hand (in Detroit) open, which is another one of my favorite markets - so I wasn't surprised to hear it had ties with Argus. :)
I no longer live next door so I unfortunately don't get the opportunity to stop by as often, but I truly loved getting to know the baristas and regularly fueling my caffeine addiction here. Highly recommend trying their homemade soups and breads (even their butter is just so freaking good). Hearty and comforting during the long...
Read moreThis is a great, cozy place to stop by for coffee or a quick bite. I got a mocha, and my fiancee got a matcha latte. They were both perfect and had the requisite latte art on top. We also ordered two curry chicken wraps with hummus and cucumbers on the side. Even though the wraps were premade (there is no kitchen), they were easily one of the most unique and best tasting wraps I've had. The hummus and cucumbers were equally delicious and very fresh. I can't comment on their produce or other items, as we only stopped in for lunch, but it all looked like it was good quality. The only downside is that there isn't a large selection -- whether that's premade food or grocery items -- but that's to be expected given that everything is sourced locally. Argus Farm Stop is definitely...
Read moreThe Packard Cafe used to be one of my favorite spots but I feel the quality of the coffee and pastries has decreased. Layered pastries like Kouign Amann and croissants just don't taste the same when they're not fresh, and it happens more often than it used to that I get a pastry that is not as fresh as it should be. The coffee products have also not been as good as they were earlier this year. Comparable local coffee shops are better with milk foam/latte art and are more consistent with serving temperature and taste. I understand these things vary based on the skill of the barista, but I think a higher quality standard should be enforced. Overall, it's still a nice cafe, just not as good and consistent as...
