Daiso Japan in Cerritos is a hidden gem for anyone who appreciates fun, affordable, and well-designed everyday items. I visited with my kids on a weekend shopping trip, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our day. We came looking for soft clay and stickers, and left with a cart full of adorable finds and creative supplies.
The store is incredibly well-organized, and despite the wide product selection — from stationery to kitchenware, home goods, toys, snacks, and crafts — the layout makes browsing enjoyable. Each section is clearly labeled, and the visual merchandising helps you discover unexpected items (which is part of the Daiso charm).
What stood out most on this visit: • The soft clay display had a wide range of colors with cute packaging. My kids were thrilled to pick and mix different sets. • The sticker aisle is packed with options — from cartoon animals and emojis to vintage aesthetics, journaling sets, and 3D styles. Great for both children and bullet journal fans. • A surprisingly large selection of plushies and character pillows that rival more expensive stores in design and quality. • Thoughtful houseware like ceramic sake bottles and beautifully made chopsticks and bowls — all at unbeatable prices. • An entire section dedicated to air fresheners, notebooks, and grid paper for those who love Japanese stationery culture.
Pricing update: Most items without a marked tag are now $2.25, which is still very reasonable for the quality and variety Daiso offers. Tagged items range higher but are clearly labeled and consistent with Daiso’s tiered pricing structure.
The store is clean, well-organized, and brightly lit. Even with foot traffic, the layout keeps everything accessible, and checkout was fast and smooth. My kids loved discovering everything — especially the soft clay and character accessories — and we walked out with much more than expected (in a good way).

Daiso Japan had their Grand Opening celebration at their newest location in Artesia, in front of 99 Ranch market, which happens to be very close to me. I've heard the raves from others & read Yelpers reviews on Daiso's other locations, but I've never managed to visit because I didn't want to drive that far. Lo & behold, there is now a location that's convenient & practical to go to.
I arrived about 45 mins before opening, & the line was about 50-60 deep. Everyone who stopped by today received a raffle ticket for various prizes, such as an Ipad mini & a Keurig K-Cup brewer.
The store was packed to the gills, so I couldn't check out everything. But, browsing some of the aisles, Daiso reminded me of a more upscale 99 cent only store, except most items are $1.50, with some items costing a little more. Regardless of the crowd, the cashiers made checkout a breeze.
I'm excited that Daiso Japan Artesia is now open. I will definitely be back to check my raffle ticket & browse the entire store for all the Japanese goodies for sale.

Read moreDaiso Japan is the asian version of 99 cent store. Really cool items from storage containers to ball pens. My kids always like their assortment of snacks. One of the most popular snacks to come out of Japan are Pocky sticks. If you don't know what they are, they are wafer sticks covered in chocolate / strawberry / and last I saw matcha green tea. I have started to see them at Ralphs but you can always count on Daiso having them in stock. It's a cute little store and you can easily get caught up $1.50 at a time with a $20 - $30 worth of items. I do spend a lot of time shopping in there as a customer and one time my 5 yr old daughter needed to pee really badly. I asked the staff if she could go really quick and they insisted it was for employees only. It did not end well for her. ...
