1 Star Visited: May 15 at 12:00 PM Party of 5
I recently visited Podi with clients visiting from Mumbai who were craving South Indian food. Despite my hesitation, we went at their request. Unfortunately, our experience was a complete disappointment from start to finish.
Although the restaurant was quiet, it took 15 minutes for the host to take our drink and appetizer order. When we asked questions about portion sizes and popular items, the host mumbled her responses under her breath, avoided eye contact, and seemed generally uninterested in helping — unacceptable, especially with an automatic gratuity applied to parties of five or more.
We ordered the masala lassi and Podi idli. The idlis were soggy with a burnt flavor, and the lassi was so spicy I had to dilute it. Attempts to get the host’s attention were ignored, and support staff did not speak English. We ate only two out of three idlis and voiced our concerns, only to be told, “That’s how they are” — a dismissive and unhelpful response.
We moved on to lunch, still trying to get decent recommendations, but again received no guidance. When placing our order, I was told to confirm it on a handheld device and warned it couldn't be canceled. As if we had time to waste — we were clearly there for lunch!
We ordered: • 1 plain dosa • 3 onion chili rava dosas • 1 cocktail uthappam plate (5 pieces)
We asked about portion sizes and were told the uthappams were small — they were not. When the food arrived, the dosa and rava dosas were cold and slightly charred. The uthappams came out late and were oversized and missing the onions described on the menu. When we questioned it, we were told, again dismissively, “These are cocktail size.” We had no time left to address it further as we had to leave for our next meeting.
My Ratings: Cleanliness: 3/5 Ambiance: 2/5 Service: 1/5 Food Quality: 1/5
I don’t normally leave negative reviews, but this experience left a bad impression — especially when hosting international guests expecting authentic Indian cuisine. Podi was a complete letdown. I won’t be returning and cannot recommend...
Read moreHello Podi Dosa, Make sure to follow these suggestions I ordered Andhra Karam dosa with shredded paneer, onions, bell papers inside stuff the waiter understood it was Chinese Schezwan chutney dosa even when i asked the owner she was trying to blame it on me i never used word that chutney when i was ordering the dosa. The only reason I haven't scolded is out of respect for Sr. NTR's photo. Please remove it from your menu you're defaming the greatest person by keeping his photo on your menus. If you're not maintaining that high standards for your business.
A Telugu person never eats Schezwan chutney dosa especially from a Vijayawada, Guntur person.
*Lack of communication between the waiter and the customer and the waiter don't understand what the customer are trying to say The prices are very high but quality was poor. If your keeping high prices please maintain the same quality for the end to the customers even batter tastes like a sour, bitter taste *Please keep at least 2 Telugu waiters who can understand the customer pulse In my opinion the waiter has to ask the customer how he wants a dosa like cut into pieces or not otherwise please don't cut it into pieces Nobody don't likes it and Chuntneys are not fresh *Ultimately needs to maintain very high quality for your prices even for mango shake, falooda, mango lassies there are small rocks, samiaya not cooked, sabudana poor quality, milk is not steamed, Customer relationship is very important for the business you got make sure when a customer raises a complaint ask your waiter and make alternatives for that product otherwise customers will not return again and you're not serving a 25$ worth of dosas The waiting is too long for the order if there are any delays in service make sure to tell that customer he will decide whether he wants it or not that's how customer relationships works
I have seen your potential business's growth Please keep at least a good manager who has a...
Read moreIf there is an option available where I can rate this best resturant 0 star then I would have done that immediately. One of the worst place to have South Indian food. There are many reasons to support this. Let me begin with details:
One has to literally wait for approximately 90 min in order to get dosa. It's funny because the process of making batter doesn't take more than 30 mins. Another point to highlight over here : If you ask the server how much more time it will take to get dosa , the response will be that your order is on top priority and we'll make sure that it will be delivered on time and then there will be another comment which will be like Sir, you ordered 45mins back and there are other orders in queue so you have to wait. Another point which I would like to highlight here is they will make sure that all their space is fully occupied. The owner of this place is extremely rude and she is least bothered what's happening there. Even if you try to talk to her she will show attitude and she is least bothered. She will always show an attitude which means she doesn't care. There is a notice that they will charge additional dollars if one order is shared between two. This is amazing. Hats off to the owner. So proud of your management strategies to earn dolllars. Last but not the least, the bill will be always be handed over on time. My only suggestion to the owner and the management is that if you don't care about customers then why the hell have you opened a resturant. You should have done something else which you are good at rather than spoiling the mood of a customer each time. I had back to back 3 experiences and now I have finalized that I will never ever go to this resturant and highly recommend others...
