Boho Hair Salon — Attraction in Asbury Park

I visited the Montclair location yesterday and had an incredible experience that left me feeling like a completely different person in the best possible way.

This was the first time I had my hair cut or colored since January, so I was craving a big change from my looooong hair and grown out roots. Amber made it so easy to discuss what kind of cut I wanted and gave me what is easily the best haircut I have ever had. I was nervous to part ways with the long hair that I have had for so many years, but Amber brought my long, tired hair back to life and made me feel so beautiful and confident with my shorter length. She also educated me on tools and products that will help me style it.

April is a phenomenal colorist who truly puts her heart into creating a beautiful work of art. She pays attention to detail and made sure every strand of hair was transformed. She managed to take my naturally dark blonde grown out roots and blend them into brighter blonde strands so flawlessly. My hair has never looked so good and I am so in love with the final product! I

In regards to the salon itself, be prepared to take pictures of just about everything. The space is STUNNING - from the wallpaper to the plants to the gold and pink accents. One of the most aesthetically pleasing places I have ever seen.

The entire staff follows safety measures and makes you feel so comfortable during your time there. They sanitize between each client and there are bottles of sanitizer at just about every station. Everyone wore their masks and I had no concerns about my safety whatsoever. The staff is so incredibly friendly and you can tell they all really put their all into what they do.

If you get hungry or thirsty, there is a cafe in the attached space that will deliver you a cup of coffee or a light snack. I stopped in before my appointment and had the vanilla oak draft latte (WOW) and a piece of avocado toast. So good! And the space itself is just as dreamy as the salon.

I cannot rave enough about Boho. Their space is beautiful, the atmosphere has great energy and not to mention, the stylists are great at what they do. It has a boutique, boho chic - New York esque vibe and I love that this salon isn’t just a space to get your hair done. They host different workshops (macrame, beauty foods, blowouts etc) and offer many other services.

How did I get introduced to Boho? Chelsea Bruno, one of the Boho Babes has been my stylist for the past 6 years and when she moves to a new salon, I (as well as many others) move with her. She is the master mind behind the many looks (cut and color) I’ve had throughout the years and I trust her with everything. If you are Asian (or just have really dark hair- Lord knows I’ve seen too many Asians with bad blonde jobs) and if you have to go to your stylist multiple times just to lift your hair to the proper blonde, I am so sorry. Chelsea is an expert at this as I’ve never had a problem with my hair turning orange or being unable to lift. Lets just say, I hope she never moves out of NJ and if I move, I’d probably only be able to get my hair done when I’m back in town!

Because she is now at Boho, I have gotten to see the work of the other stylists. I have very high standards for hair and when I believe in someones work. I spread their names like wild fire. There is not one stylist there who doesn’t do a great job and understand what their clients want. Sally, the owner of Boho is just the sweetest as well. I have worked closely with her on a couple shoots and have been in awe by her as she works quickly and efficiently. Boho Hair Salon and the Boho Bridal Experience was one of the best decisions I made for my Wedding! Sally Monterrosa and team were there every step of the way with creative ideas and impeccable execution that left me feeling and looking my best throughout the entire planning process!

In the lead up to my wedding Sally worked with me to find a great makeup artist, coordinate and style my hair for my engagement shoot, give my locks a healthy cut six months out, and she even hand painted bayalage into my hair with three weeks to go! A unique service she offers is the three option photographed hair trial - I definitely recommend booking this so you can test out some choices and make your big decision! The Boho team was always easy to reach via email and phone and extremely helpful in booking and organizing all of my appointments!

On the day of the wedding, Sally and team arrived EARLY to set up their space and finished ahead of schedule! I had 14 people getting styled and every one of us LOVED our hair! We are an opinionated group with many previous weddings between us and not one of us was disappointed! Sally was also extremely helpful in keeping the chaos of the prep room under control and running smoothly, too! I cannot thank Sally, Ashley, and the rest of the Boho team enough for everything they did to make me feel so beautiful over the past year!
