In reality, 4.5 stars is realistic. 5 stars is approaching perfection, and that's just a very high bar. We stayed in the penthouse suite. A couple minor annoyances: having to go down a few stairs to get to the bathroom (not ideal in the middle of the night). The bedroom is quite small with the bed basically against the wall (no night stand on one side). The dresser and TV stand in there take up too much space. They should mount the TV on the wall, and get a bedside table that is more proportional to the space.
The kitchen and living room are good spaces, but I wonder if the large dining room table is getting much use for the space it takes up. It would be a major project, but using that space to make the bedroom larger would be a better use of the whole space.
The pull out sofa is nice to have, but it has a very uncomfortable bar. Suggest a denser mattress to make sure that isn't an issue or a whole new sofa with a better design. The breakfast is nice, but the seating area feels cramped. Another major project, but I remember there being some space up there that is likely going unused that could expand the seating.
Overall, this is a nice property with a lot of good points and has the potential for greatness if they harness what is available to them. Being able to take the dog was nice, but the $35 fee, though not as high as I've seen, is still bordering on excessive. Properties that push that fee higher will absolutely not get my business. Doesn't matter that I can technically afford it. It's...
Read moreWe enjoyed our stay here very much! We've been coming to Ocean Grove for over a decade and have stayed at a variety of different places, enjoying each of them. The Ocean View Inn wis definitely a very nice balance of affordability and luxury. The first time we stayed here, we rented the third floor penthouse which was more along the lines of a small apartment and someplace we could have lived for months easily if we needed to. More recently, we stayed in the executive suite which is the second floor across the whole front of the building. This suite didn't feel quite as big as the other but it was on the second floor and was still pretty large, having a nice living room, dining room, small kitchen and a separate bedroom with a bath. In this room, one would need to go through the bedroom to get to the bathroom so if you're planning on having more than two adults this is something to keep in mind. Everything we needed was there except for a suitcase holder which the owner promptly provided for us. My only suggestion would be to provide a mirror to in the room as the only mirror was the one above the sink in the bathroom so it was no way to get a good look at your outfit before leaving the room. We could always find healthy food in the morning at the little breakfast they serve next door so that is added plus. The young ladies serving the breakfast did a great job and are very...
