CITY SUPERMARKET — Attraction in Asbury Park

This place is terrible! From really rude staff that will slam boxes down right in your way, pick their nose in front of you, and will whizz right by you (or through you, your choice) to products that are wrinkled, damaged and/or dirty looking. I bought chicken strips there that came frozen and I open the bag and a HUNK of ice falls out and all the breading has fallen off the strips. This only happens if food has been left to thaw out and then refrozen cause screw food safety, amiright?

I sucked it up for a while now but today was the final straw for me and I won’t be returning. There are flies everywhere and even they have reached a level of apathy to inspire my awe. They don’t even bother to fly away when you come near them. They just sit there...maybe even wishing for the sweet release of death that will free them from that hell hole.

The hostility and negative energy just throws me through a loop. The check out lady was the only nice thing about my trip there...not only cause it signaled my exit from the place but because she was the only person there that seemed to get...

Today is the third time I went to this supermarket in Asbury Park. Ive gone to the meat department and aside from the horrible customer service, the chicken looks old and slimy. The produce department looks to be in bad shape. Being a business owner myself, I try to shop locally to support the community and provide the freshest food for my customers; this supermarket does not allow me to do so and in fact cripples me from accomplishing said service. I tried speaking to the manager about this and his response was to basically push me out of the supermarket while saying that everything was fresh, when it clearly is not. This place is absolutely disgusting! Their meat section smells has anybody heard of bleach? There are always a whole bunch of drunk bums on the outside of the store harassing you for a dollar... This place should honestly hire a security guard! I rather drive 20 minutes to Red Bank to a place call juanitos, because they are absolutely clean and pleasant, even if they are a little bit pricier than this place... I would not go unless I did not have a choice... If you are is female, be very careful because there's always a whole bunch of drunk catcallers... So my advice is don't ever go alone or bring some...
