I have really tried to like and support this business. When I first started going, I would get a phone call while driving to my appointment that they are canceling my appointment. This is while I am driving to work (25 minute drive) and bringing my dog on the way. This has happened to me twice.
Since going to this groomer, my dog has developed (2) Cysts which will require surgery to remove, surgery that isn't cheap. These cysts are caused by poor grooming product and poor grooming (per vet advice).
In the past six months, we have had two price increases. This last time where I paid over $300, my dog came back smelly, where my coworkers even commented on how much I paid for him to be smelly still. I learned they do not clean the hair out of his ears and I need pay a Vet to clean the hair out of his ears (this was stated by the groomer to me). (more money). Also, don't be suprised when they give you add on charges at the time of paying you weren't expecting to pay. No call before to warn you.
My final and last straw on why I am not going to keep my mouth shut any longer and write this review. I genuinely want to support small businesses but now, my dog's health is not good. After the last visit with the groomer, my dog developed bloody diarrhea and his health is not good. My dog has been seriously ill with bloody stool for over three days now. I took him to the vet the day after my last grooming appointment, they recommended I do not return to this groomer. After what they saw with his cut, his ears, how he still smelled, had cysts and how sick he is. My vet wanted to know so they do not take their dog here. Going to this groomer is not worth the money and not worth your dog becoming seriously ill.
Thank you for the reply, however, he wasn't the vet who saw Ryder and see his ears and cysts. Thanks for trying to clear this review but wrong vet. There was NO mention of "Allergy" at the vet clinic. Feel free to ask him if he was the one who was actually in the office speaking to me. (I am sure he was being nice and politically correct in this situation to prevent from being in the middle of this because he is a good guy and it is a GREAT business). I am not one to make false accusations for any business because I truly believe in small businesses but it was clearly said to me "Ryder has dreadlocks in his ears, I can't believe at that price they didn't help you with his ears". Not once did the groomer ever tell me she doesn't remove hair from the ears and I had been going for a year. Has Ryder come in matted, yes but even when he wasn't matted, I was still charged extra. The fact is, my dog came back from your grooming salon very ill, bloody diarrhea for 4 days, lost weight, smelled even after a hair cut of a half inch with NO mats, and a bath, and it was over $300 plus vet bills due to him getting sick...
Read morerecent update with the puppy flu that’s going around I had been avoiding the groomers for months. Now I wish I hadn’t, because the way Pawsitivity is handling the situation is above and beyond. I felt extremely safe dropping off my little one with them knowing they are taking so many extra precautions to keep your fur baby safe (disinfecting, screening for symptoms, keeping dogs separate, and more!) Not only is my puppy now groomed and glowing (this time done beautifully by August I believe?) , but I feel safe knowing the care they provide! So if you were anything like me and are accidentally letting your dog turn into a tumbleweed due to fear, I highly recommend Pawsitivity. Your puppy will thank you!!
Reading some other reviews I also feel the need to mention that yes the prices are a little on the “higher” end but from my experience this is because this spa truly cares about your dogs comfort level and their treatment of their staff! I will happily pay a little extra knowing Clover is not being forced through a traumatizing experience and that their their talented groomers are paid a living wage. I know my dog very well she is a drama queen and her demeanor after every visit shows me the difference in how their staff approaches grooming with true care!

I was so scared to take my puppy to the groomers for the first time after hearing horror stories about other businesses. Pawsitivity put me at ease the moment I stepped in the door. Everyone was so kind and genuine and kristyn did a phenomenal job with my tiny girl. When I came to pick her up she was playing with her in the waiting room and I could tell from her demeanor she had been loved on. Since it was her first time, she only received a bath etc. and it still felt like I was picking up an entirely new puppy! We will definitely be coming back continuously as she...
Read moreWe have to give a HUGE shout out to Pawsitivity Pet Spa in West Asheville! They are AMAZING!!!
Our dog has always been weird about people touching her feet and cutting her nails is ALWAYS a massive ordeal! We've tried literally everything over the years (anxiety meds, muzzles, peanut butter, all the treats, several people holding her down at the vet, etc.) The last time we tried to have them cut our vet told us we were out of options. Recently her nails were starting to affect her walking and making her hips hurt because they are so long, so we reached out to Pawsitivity Pet Spa as a last resort to help our old girl. I so wish we would have done this years ago! They are a Fear Free Certified spa and are so wonderful!!! Within 5 minutes Kristyn and Heidi (who both specialize in senior dogs) were able to cut the nails on both of her back feet with ZERO issues! NONE! No meds, no muzzle, no snapping, no showing teeth, nothing. They were so calm, read her behavior so well, and gave her treats. We watched it all and I was so shocked and so happy I may have shed a couple of tears... They stopped after 2 feet to give her a break and we will take her back next week for the other 2. When our almost 16 year old dog walked out to the lobby after she had her nails cut she was so happy and proud she LITERALLY started prancing in circles walking around the lobby without slipping.
We don't usually do reviews but this place brought life back to our old girl. We wanted to share just in case someone else is in the same...
