This is the WORST restaurant that I have ever been to in regards to customer service. I have never felt such humilliation in my life in any business I have ever been to. We went here about five times before we stopped going and never went back. The first time I went while I was in line I noticed there was two women in the kitchen that serve the food that were looking at me and laughing. One of them was telling something to the other with her hand on the side of her mouth and laughing and staring straight at me. Even my mother told me she thought they were saying something about me because they were looking at me laughing and gossiping. Well that was the first bad experience but we kept going because we thought the food was good but then we kept having other bad experiences and they kept getting worse. The next time we went the woman that charged us (shes usually in the kitchen but she jumped to the register when the guy cashier went to take the trash out) overcharged us on everything that we orded, I counted all her overcharges and it was about $7 or 8$ she overcharged. We ordered a torta three tacos and two sides of beans. Well she charged us 7.50 for the torta (which was 6.50 on the menu) and $5 for each side of beans (total of $10 for about 1oz of beans) and she also charged all my tacos for $3 when the menu says $2.50 (unless they are a special meat which mine werent). Aside from all the overcharges and the fact that she didnt give us a receipt the WORST thing was that when they gave us our food my beans were missing and when my husband went to tell them, that woman scolded him and told him that my beans were not missing, that she had put both our orders in his plate. (What kind of person puts two different peoples orders in one plate?). Not only did she charge us $10 for two sides of beans but she didnt even give me my order and suggested me and my husband share his 1oz of beans (because yes she gave him an extremely small portion of beans). It might have even been less than 1oz, if I could count them it was probably about 10 beans (since they were smushed I couldnt count them). Well we kept going several times after that and whenever we did that lady would make a face and put her hands on her hips as if she hated to see us and then she would jump to the register and overcharge us (I assume she did it because since we never complained about her overcharges). The last time we went though was one day when my dad and brother happened to be with us and my husband (he is extremely polite and sweet to everyone) asked the woman what she was cooking in a big pot she was stirring and the woman turned around put her hands on her hips and screamed at his face "YOU KNOW WHAT?!!! I DONT KNOW!!!!" and stormed off, and the other woman that was with her started laughing at the way she humilliated my husband. My brother turned to me and asked "why do they treat him like that?!" Well I dont know why those women treat my husband like that because my husband has never been rude to anyone ever in the food industry or in anywhere, he is too nice. When we went to sit at the table no one ate their food my dad and brother both just threw it away because they were so upset. Well my husband being the darling that he is and since he is innocent and dosnt hold grudges, he did eat his food and he even saw a man sitting beside us eating Carne Asada (a thin steak) and told us "ooh Im going to go get a Carne Asada for my lunch tomorrow" well he went to ask for it and he told me when he asked for it those women in the kitched screamed at him "WE DON'T SELL CARNE ASADA HERE!!!". Which was a lie because their MENU has an Carne Asada plate. And we saw a man right beside us eating it. Anyways that day I looked for the owner because I was going to complain about those womens unjustified rude humilliating actions but she was not there. I contacted them through fb and told them about this and asked for the owner to contact me, but she hasnt to this day contacted me to offer a refund for her employees overcharges or at least to...

Over hyped. Save yourself the time and eat somewhere else. I’ll admit, the taco scene in Asheville is subpar. But this place just isn’t good. If (the pretense of) “authentic” equates to neglecting your ingredients and your customers, this experience was as authentic as it gets.

I had high expectations going in, because this place has been talked up by other locals. It’s edible, but nothing special. The meat was lacking in flavor, and the corn tortillas were subpar in both flavor and texture. I have no reason for a return visit. Maybe it was an off day, but I also found the service to be impersonal and burdened.

Additionally, I asked for a glass of water. I was handed a glass by one of the ladies doing prep work. She happened to be the kindest presence I experienced in the building that day. That said, she was handling raw meat with gloves on, but failed to remove the gloves when she poured my water and handled the rim of the cup. She handed the plastic cup to me, and I observed the remains of the meat marinade smeared on the rim of my cup. I’m not a germaphobe (I’ve eaten in several questionable situations locally and abroad), so I wiped it off and drank the water anyways. However, as I’ve read other reviews, a lack of cleanliness/food safe practices seems to be a common pattern.

The food:

Al pastor tacos: flavorless and left wanting in texture and complement. Carne Asada: also flavorless.

Salt and heat could be your best friends. Learn how to utilize these two elements and your food could be sooooo...

Even though the cashier repeated back my order (yes I am Hispanic and fluent) they got my order wrong. When my husband pointed this out they tried to make him pay an extra $3 saying my plate was more expensive than his. It was only $1.50 more and it was the cashier's fault for conveying the order to the cooks incorrectly. They all just stared at him and did nothing. After 7 minutes of ignoring him at the counter, he pushed them to give him my food, the cashier again said he needed to pay more, so my husband told him to take it out of the $5 tip he had already given him since they were making him wait. The cashier then stormed off to the back without saying a word. The staff was obviously upset they had to throw away the wrong plate and kept making plates for the customers who ordered way after we did. They finally gave him the plate of food but he ended up eating his dinner cold. They were all very rude and never apologized for their mistake. This used to be a good place to eat, even when they were super busy, they got the food out quickly. It wasn't even packed that evening. And their food standards are obviously lower, my Carne asada was more like a piece of leather. NEVER GOING BACK AFTER THE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND...

When you order make sure you look at the prices on the menu and make sure you know how much and for what you are being charged. My husband got overcharged a few dollars and they couldn’t even give him a detailed receipt. Tortillas are hand made so that takes them a while to serve the food. We try the horchata and it was delicious. We got served plates and the beans where salty. The salsa bar was great. When you go to the store side items are not appropriately priced and they show no label. I had to constantly ask for prices. Which is something I don’t want to do with a toddler. They also have no changing table.

One of the best taco places I’ve been to and a really affordable place to eat in Ashville. We ordered a bunch of different types of tacos, some tamales, and sopes. One of the things that stood out about this place is that their tortillas are homemade. It was extremely delicious. Their tamales were huge and packed with tasty meats. I also liked their salsa bar where you could add many different toppings and sauces to your tacos. I paired everything with a side of Horchata and it was perfect.

Ordered the birria tacos. $16 for 4 tacos stuffed with meat and a vat of stew juice for dipping. The tacos weren't crunchy - my fault for taking them to go. They steamed in the container. Despite this, the food was good. The only thing I couldn't get past was how dry the meat was, even soaked in juice. The red sauce was deliciously burny. The food didn't come out quickly, but I'm happy to wait. Looking forward to going back and trying their usual tacos and hitting the salsa bar.
