Rock Haven Motel — Hotel in Asheville

I am flabbergasted by the positive reviews. There must be some good rooms and some bad ones? Theres no way someone would have stayed in the room I did and be ok with it. Like others have said, mold all over, rotting furniture, the walls look like a tiger tore through there, the towels and sheets had brown stains all over. The smell hit me so hard when I walked in like the worst kind of intense cleaner covering mold and cigarettes- I could barely stand it. The bed barely fit in the room. The staff are dead faced and people were smoking meth at the picnic table in the morning. $75. Is that really the going rate for this kind of motel? The rock exterior is cool, the location is fine. The place is absolute hell on earth....

Pros: Very friendly staff. Cons: Cigarette smell and cigarette burn holes on bedspread in a our no-smoking room, dirt and/or crumbs spread around in all drawers we opened, bed uncomfortable and noisy, toilet hard to access (tucked in a small corner), toilet lid loose, shower is a very small makeshift add-on with a shower head inexplicably mounted on a corner and immobile, so the water shoots along the shower opening and you have to basically shower standing in the doorway of the shower, all other guests we saw were sketchy (shirtless, barefoot, smoking on the steps and not getting out of your way to get past), furniture looks donated/dilapidated, AC barely worked, no closet to...

Man I had AMAZING experience at the rock haven.the owners are pretty cool. Service could be a little bit better. the cleaning lady is a Little slow but if you stay on her she's pretty good about getting your needs taken care of. Other then that, good location, stores nearby, historic main street nearby and conveniently located right by the interstate and highways to get to and from places and attractions. We're in love and it's not as bad as everybody claims it is btw the owner has REALLY cut down on the NO TOLERANCE FOR TROUBLE MAKING RULES.
