I was part of a team participating in the USTA Southern Sectional Championships hosted in Asheville, NC. We came representing Alabama and a team mate had worked with reservations to secure all our rooms. I was driving along with part of the team and arriving with 3 ladies. Our dates of stay were initially Thursday Sept 16th through Monday Sept 20th. After the original bookings were made, several players wanted to arrive Wednesday the 15th instead so I called Sept. 10th to see if I could have the studio room I booked one day earlier. Yes! Not a problem! I was sent a new confirmation email. Then, sadly, one of the ladies riding with us had a very close family friend’s son (32yrs old single parent leaving a 5 yr old behind) die of COVID. We needed to go back to our original arrival date, Thursday, September 16th with respect to funeral arrangements. So I called to switch my reservation back and COY, was the representative I spoke with. I explained the predicament but he could not have been more rude, in fact he refused to adjust the arrival date explaining there was a strict 2 week prior required notice with a group booking. So I was forced to arrive Wednesday or if I didn’t I was going to be charged for that night. Again, he was beyond rude. How or why is it that The Residences of Marriott can adjust dates but only to benefit them? You see my 1st change was WITHIN their supposed 2 week PRIOR to arrival mandatory requirement of changes but they sure allowed the change. But when I needed to go back to my original arrival date, it was denied. When checking in, the young lady checking me in was barely pleasant but busy so I gave her some grace. But when I got to the Studio room, most of the kitchen lights didn’t work and there was no door on the microwave. I called to report it and they said they couldn’t believe such. I took a photo just to prove it. They then said they would resolve it the following day. When I awoke the next morning to make coffee, the room only had decaf packs. Housekeeping had not properly replenished the tray. I went to scramble eggs for breakfast and the utensils were filthy dirty as were the glasses. It took two days to resolve the microwave repair and due to that I was assume my bill would be adjusted the same day it was replaced. However, when I checked out this morning they still had not adjusted my bill. I must say, the location of this property is good. The a/c is so old it’s very loud so you can’t hear the tv on a normal volume level. It’s definitely musty and I think it’s time to update or at least deep clean everything.

Not recommended. I visited Asheville to participate a charity event helping the flood victims in Harrah's Cherokee Center. Please keep in mind that I visited Asheville when the city is having problems with water. When checking in, I asked for paper cups or plastic cups since the city water was not potable. The front desk staff told me that they did not have paper cups nor plastic cups first (really?). Upon further questioning, they responded that the cups are locked up in the breakfast area and they could not get them. {They are stored in an unlocked cabinet in the breakfast area.) My take was that they did not feel like to get up from their chairs and walk 20 feet to get them for me! They were not very professional and did not seem wanting to help their customers. The facilty is relatively new (or newly renovated). I like the modern design of the room with several lights and glass enclosure of shower. However, someone decided to install a wider door in the bathroom, and I would have to walk all the way into the bathroom in order close the door!

This stay was one for the books. Let me first say the staff was very friendly. The hotel was very dated, the carpets, the rusted door knobs, the appliances are all very old. The room smelled like strong potpourri, the air conditioner fan was so loud and sounded like an alarm. We actually booked two rooms and the second was even worse it smelled like wet dog and there was hair all over the carpet and no towels. When we told the front desk they were very apologetic and switched us to a different room. That room smelled like hot chocolate and again nothing was clean. We had to stay here because everything else was booked. The location was great but someone definitely needs to come in and deep clean everything.

Oct, 2019: Over the past about 10 years I have been coming to Asheville every October, and I always stay at this Residence Inn. There are newer hotels, cheaper hotels, and hotels closer to downtown. But, I don't care; my heart belongs to THIS hotel.

I have written several reviews over the years on Trip Advisor, and I really can't say much more than: Super clean, super friendly, great free breakfast, plenty of free parking, good wifi, WONDERFUL rooms, SUPERIOR staff. Did I say CLEAN? (I demand clean!)

The hotel is an older property, but I have stayed in brand new hotels that aren't nearly as nice. The manager here is exemplary and is always working; on any given day he can be found at the front desk to help with whatever needs doing. The staff (I wish I knew all their names, but I only know Jeremy and Pepe's names) is the best anywhere. Housekeeping is warm and friendly and do a great job. The breakfast area is the best I have found, and I have traveled in 49 of the United States. Pepe (and the women) who work the breakfast area are quick to wipe everything down and keep it spotlessly clean - plus, the food is great and always replenished quickly. The coffee is piping hot and always fresh. On a couple nights a week, they have good eats (free) and beer/wine for a social gathering in the lobby. It's always nice and the same as the breakfast - plentiful and well done. Need I go on?

Location is about a mile from downtown (you could walk if you're not lazy like me). The fancy Biltmore Village shopping area is definitely in walking distance (about 3 blocks), and there are several restaurants within walking distance. The Biltmore House is just around the corner, but you couldn't really walk there as the entrance is very long. I-40 E & W is about 7 minutes away, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is about 10 minutes away.

This is my favorite go-to hotel. I will keep coming back year after year and will cry when I have to leave; it's like my second home for a few weeks each year. Love it.

Oct, 2018: I have reviewed this place several times on other sites (all 5-star positive for me). Great employees. Great location. Fantastic rooms. Clean. Friendly. Spacious rooms. SUPER comfy beds! Great complimentary breakfast. Excellent wifi. Free parking. Location is about a mile or so from downtown, and bus comes in front of the hotel. It's walking distance to the fancy shops at Biltmore VIllage - and there are a couple restaurants within walking distance. This is really a GREAT location without the high pricetag of being in the center of downtown. I come here every year for a couple weeks. This year I stayed for 2 weeks, mid-October. I loooove this place. All the employees (I wish I knew all their names) are wonderful - from housekeeping, to the front desk, to the eating area - everyone is Southern-friendly. Of particular note, I'd like to mention manager Andrew. Andrew was always there. He was SO nice and pleasant, and was always doing something - whether it be running the socials at night, to looking around outside to make sure the place always looked nice, or helping out the front desk - he was always around doing something and had a pleasant word to say as guests came and went. Andrew is truly an asset to the Marriott corporation.

As with most hotels these days, there is a pool (indoor), gym (very nice), and an outdoor space with a BBQ grill and tables. The area is lush and green and feels secluded - very nice area along the main road into downtown. Some evenings, they have little food socials in the lobby - beer, wine, and snacks - it's very nice but only on a couple weeknights. Breakfast is wonderful, complimentary full buffet every morning.

I will be back next year, for sure. And, the year after that, and the year after that. This is a great hotel and I love...

Check in was fine though I had requested when I made my reservation that I had made weeks before my stay that I wanted a first floor location but they had already given those out prior to my arrival 5:30 pm.

The room is the typical Resident Inn style and nothing really stood out except that this site does have an actual stove which is nice. Many of their sites only have counter top burners which are not very good to do much on them.

This hotel had many guests with their dogs. I go on at least 5 trips a year staying at hotels and I have never seen this many guests with dogs at the same hotel. My son is Autistic and is terrified of dogs, so this causes problems for him. I had one dog present above me that would bark endlessly at night time. I called the front desk and both times the owners were contacted to come back but they were at dinner so we had to continue to listen to the dog barking until they returned. This dog also barked early in the morning waking me up at 5 am and when I tried to go back to sleep, the dog would start barking again, probably because the dog wanted the owners' attention but they ignored it. I had another dog on the same floor to the side. This owner would also leave the dog in the room and it would whine continually until the owner returned. I understand that some people feel the need to bring their dog but do the rest of the guests have to put up with the barking? The hotel staff advised me that a requirement for the dogs to stay would be that the dog would not bark. This policy is obviously not followed. They should try to come up with a plan that has a specific area for guests with dogs. Plus, they should have a policy for owner's to keep the dogs on leashes because a few times I had dog owners remove the leash inside the halls for whatever reason.

I want to give thanks to the breakfast staff and the room staff. The breakfast area was always kept full of food and I especially appreciate that they have to go plates available because my elderly mother has a hard time walking around other people in a crowed area and I am able to get the food and bring it back without having to ask for to go plates. The room staff were always working hard. Great job by them.

I asked for the manager to contact me on the dog barking issue but never heard from them. Another staff member advised me that they were leaving a message for the manager to contact me but never...
