My husband and I love elevated, high quality takes on classics. So, we were super excited to try Rebel Burger. We were willing to pay the higher prices ($12 for the burger, $6 for fries, and $21 for the burger, fries, and drink combo) but were disappointed and taken aback to find that we were charged a mandatory %18 staff appreciation fee! This fee is not clearly listed anywhere on the website and, because we used Apple Pay, we didn’t see it until our order went through and we were taken to the receipt screen. For our order that came out to $7 extra for carry-out service that didn’t even include a confirmation email, common pleasantries at pick-up, or labeling the different items we ordered.
It’s also not clear from the site that the restaurant is a food truck. It was raining when we went so we were bummed to find that our options were to eat in the rain, eat in the car, or take our food back to our hotel.
The food was solid. We both liked the burger which had a more unique and Middle Eastern flavor profile than your average smash burger. The fries, unfortunately, did not hold up to the 8 minute drive and were cold by the time we got to eat them. I liked the spiced fries with the rebel sauce but the plain fries were not even salted and tasted like cardboard.
There’s potential for this place to be a cool experience however, the forced gratuity for lackluster service and non-existent ambience made this...
Read moreHeard the buzz about Rebel burger. Excited to receive an email about it taking over location at Biltmore Hi Wire and continuing Monday Burger Night.
After a hearty welcome from super person at the window ordering is self-serve. Process was not as easy as it could have been. Friendly owner (I think) was called over to help adjust some settings after person at window got stuck answering.
Food was definitely unique and high quality. Seasonings were not my favourite but were sophisticated and subtle.
Was told because it was their opening night they had no condiments which sucked. And I should have examined the email I was sent about the burger night deal as I saw fries on the picture they sent out not even the beer which is part of the special. Wonder why they put them on there if they aren’t part of it. And I wondered if one would get a larger portion of fries if ordered separately than the smallish portion on the end of the boat it was served in. And $1 off promo for first order kept giving me a red message of issues they were dealing with.
Wanted to like it. And liked a lot about it. But the excitement has passed.
Update 11/21
Credit where credit is due. Owner contacted me and seems like fries have now been added to combo at .50c off and that they will serve some condiments. Guess I wish I hadn’t done opening night.
Thanks for the follow up. You clearly care...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I had our first Rebel Burger experience a couple of weeks ago. We ordered delivery from their website during half of Wednesdays. I made the mistake of ordering two combos which were not on sale but the individual burgers were. I called the restaurant after realizing what happened and they graciously went into the system and discounted our food even though they didn’t have too. That shows top quality customer service. Now onto the food. I got a rebel burger combo and my girlfriend got the lettuce wrap burger combo. The fries which are fried in beef tallow were some of the best I’ve had in my life. They have a great crisp edge and a soft moist center with an amazing burst of savory umami in your mouth. The burgers were both divine. They use a special seasoning on their burgers which is unique to just their restaurant. Has a touch of Indian flare with turmeric and some other seasonings that I adored. The smash burgers had crispy edges but were cooked perfectly and not dried out. Each bite left me wanting more and more which is the sign of love and passion put into their food. 10 of 10 recommend visiting or ordering from over and...
