We had our wedding reception on the back patio in June of 2018 and loved every second of it. The communication with the on-site event manager was wonderful - she answered all of my questions very promptly and was very helping seeing as how I was planning everything from over 8 hours away. We met with her one time in person months prior to the day and she walked us through the set up, and what our options were. We also visited the site the week of the wedding and were able to sample the different beers and choose what we wanted to serve at the reception. The bartender that night was very helpful and took the time to get to know us and explained our different options. The day of, the on-site event manager had everything set up for us, and made me feel very comfortable knowing that everything would be handled correctly! She kept us in the loop during the reception in regards to our bar tab, and made herself available without being overbearing. All the staff members were very wonderful to work with, and we were so thankful that we found a site that would allow us to have such a casual yet unforgettable reception. We also loved that it is pet friendly! Some of our guests who brought their dogs with them from out of town for the weekend brought them to our reception and we loved it! Could not recommend Hi Wire enough, they made our night perfect! We can't wait to visit for Labor...
Read moreHad our wedding in the bier garden in September. Venue was beautiful, everything went pretty well until after the event. Our parents offered to pay our bar tab the night of as a gift. They were told 20 minutes before event end it was about $1500 total (750 each), which is roughly what we were quoted. No final bill was given, they never were asked to sign a receipt. 2 weeks later they were both charged $1600. It took weeks for us to get a hold of anyone helpful who would send an itemized list. Multiple charges for drinks we didn’t even have available to the guests, clearly added in to up the total. The most infuriating thing was the bartender cost. We already paid $30/hour for the bartender. They charged us $500 for the tip (in addition to the cash jar they had out). So they made $130/hour+ to pour beer and wine (no mixed drinks involved). To this day we can’t get anyone to explain how that was put on the cards when no one signed off on it and we have been stuck footing this bill. Completely ridiculous, and very regretful we trusted them...
Read moreLove, love, love the South Slope location. Whether it's with my kiddos, enjoying "life-sized poole" & a Halloween costume contest, or just me, stretching with a yogi or throwing some dadhole: this Asheville brewery has it all. Deliberately inclusive, Hi-Wire offers uniquely fun events, many of which give back directly to our Asheville community. If there's no drag show or ferris wheel planned on the events calendar, still go. The staff has a friendly, easy-going way about them, and no one will think twice if you need to be left alone to read some cultural anthropology! David Graeber pairs well with their Hi-Pitch; James Suzman, with their Mountain Water. After you read, go ahead and purchase their Pink Lemonade in bulk, because you're going to have to spend some upcoming day at a place other than the South Slope location. Just make sure that's not the day of your friends' wedding at the Event Space, as the apologies grow tired, and it becomes a whole thing. The plane was grounded! Drink...
