This is a great option for a cheap meal with good quality product. It's counter service and has been in business since 1963. It lacks for nothing as the line moved steadily, and you most definitely can tell they have their regulars. My fiancé and I split a bbq and chicken breast plate for $12 & some change. It included baked beans, potato salad, and 3 hush puppies. We subbed fries in lieu of the potato salad. With the chicken, you get choice of fried thigh or breast + dark or white meat. This is self seating. She calls out your name for your order and you pay at a separate location than from where you place your order. BBQ sauces was really good and they have them for purchase if you wish to take it home. If you're wheelchair bound, please know the bathrooms are not exactly ADA accessible. The establishment has booths on one side and table on the other. Small parking lot, but still enough for you to park. We came in at peak lunch and there were spots available. Overall, solid experience for good cheap eats.

While on my way back home to Charlotte from Asheville I decided to stop by here and grab something to go to have for dinner tonight. I was just driving by and I’m a sucker for an old school spot so I swerved in immediately to see what they had going on. Soon as I walked in, it was like taking a step back in time which I absolutely loved. Seems old school places are becoming a thing of the past in Charlotte, so I was beyond thrilled to walk in here. I got the chicken and rib meal with slaw and beans. It was absolutely delicious. You can tell they perfected their recipes years ago and that’s why they’re still in business now. My only regret is I didn’t find out abt them sooner during my time in Asheville because I would certainly love to dine in. The staff was very friendly and welcoming which I loved.

I decided to give this bbq place a try as I’ve driven past it numerous times. I don’t know if it was an off time (3:30pm) therefore the food wasn’t as good as it might normally have been. The worker behind the counter I ordered the food from was not friendly at all and seemed put out with my order. A chopped pork bbq sandwich. It came with coleslaw already on it and supposedly sauce. This is how I normally prefer my sandwich. The pork was tender and had a nice char to it but there wasn’t any smokiness to the taste and it was almost cold. The coleslaw was bland and the barely there sauce might have had some vinegar in it but that was the only obvious flavor. It was a good amount of meat and slaw for under $6.50. The cashier was a bright spot in that place and was very sweet and helpful.

Not customer friendly and defying Governor's orders. We ordered a pound of barbecue, sauce (you have to buy it separately), and hush puppies for $23. We would have ordered our sides there (potato salad, beans, slaw) but we'll get to that. So we ordered on Saturday since they were closed on Sunday but the meal was for Mother's Day.

When we picked it up, we noticed they had a meal deal of a pound of barbecue, sauce, potato salad, slaw, beans and hush puppies (6 fewer than we ordered) for $24.99. They never menntioned this when I placed the order and didn't ask if I'd like to add the sides and pay for the extra hush puppies either.

So we had Mother's Day lunch and discovered we didn't get all our hush puppies. We called on Monday. They laughed at us for calling about a missing hush puppy. You best believe they wouldn't be laughing if I hadn't paid them everything. So they told us next time we were out we could come get "one."

So today, we are running errands and go to resolve the issue, intending to ask about why the meal deal was never mentioned or offered also. After waiting forever for the cashier to not be busy, we asked to speak to someone else. Lamont was also bemused that we returned over being shorted a hush puppy. (I paid for it and clearly I wanted to eat it. Can't you just appreciate that I like your damn hush puppies enough to even come back???) He was pretty rude about the whole thing so I didn't bother asking about the whole damn meal I could have received for $2 more). He gave me 3 whopping hush puppies.

On top of this, the Governor issued an executive order that restaurants can only be open for curbside or takeout. This establishment is having people COME INSIDE to place their order and SIT INSIDE TO WAIT FOR IT!!! This is not what the Governor intended and they will be reported.

Been doing business with them for over 40 years, but...

I am leaving a 2 Star review mostly due to service. Came in ordered our food...the employees aren't very welcoming. They seem to rush you through ordering which is difficult for someone who hasn't been here.

The food is fine. I do wish we had more options when it came to sauces tho.

My biggest complaint about the lack of customer service comes from what I witnessed while there. A lady came in with her 2 kids and, who I would assume, is her mother. They ordered their food and one of the kids got a water (which comes in a small cup). The mother of the children handed her son her cup (regular drink) while she made another drink.

The cashier immediately started yelling towards them saying "the small cup is water only, you can not get anything else but water!"

The small water cup was empty! It hadn't even been used yet! The employees/cashier made the biggest scene, especially when the mother defended herself and child. They were very disrespectful to her and her family and didn't even apologize after they saw that the water cup was indeed empty. Instead, they threatened to call the police on her and when she asked for a refund, they tried to refuse.

I do not think I...

USED TO BE a great place, cheap and tasty (ironic that they put their old menu on the wall) The food is not good I had a hot dog and the chili was like a meatball gobbed on and tasteless and the bun was stale and hard as a rock. The BBQ here is a joke of the locals because they don't even make it there anymore it's shipped in from somewhere. Nothing at all like what it used to be, MANY OTHER REALLY GOOD BBQ PLACES around way better than this, unless you want to pay over $10.00 for food that isn't that good, do a little research and find the real good BBQ and Hot Dog joints that don't rip you off. Drinks are a real rip off just to use an example of how they gouge you WATER IS FIFTY CENTS in a 15 cent Styrofoam cup!!!!! Lived in WNC for 50 years and they used to be great 30 years ago, but now a place for rich folk to waste there money. Nostalgia on the walls is nice.... stop in and see it just don't buy anything....BAD FOOD for WAY TOO much money. Sheetz has 100 percent better Hot Dogs, for half the price of there's. DO NOT FALL FOR THE FAKE 5 STAR REVIEWS...
