I visited the Titletown, a small outdoor football field next to the Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI, USA. Wow, really? I did not know it was right in front of the Lambeau Field. According to my first impression, that area looked neat, clean, and modernized. Because I did not know how big it is, sometimes it can be very crowded during a Packer football game. So, it made me think I would hear loud noises and voices from the Titletown. Even though Green Bay is a small town (as well as cheaper to live than in Madison), I learned fans could park near any resident’s places before going inside that football stadium. The scenery and atmosphere looked great after my coach let me take a tour of the exterior of the Lambeau Field. Therefore, Green Bay is a good town for many things to do. Next, while playing flag football with one opposing team from Milwaukee at the Titletown, getting familiar with that sport was challenging. Because I did not play that sport for a long time, I was doing one thing I was not supposed to do as a center, especially spreading my arms toward a linebacker who ran after a quarterback. Also, my teammates and I did not communicate clearly about choosing offensive players to follow during defense. But the second time was better. As my coaches instructed me, I kept my arms to myself while deterring a linebacker who tried to take a flag from the quarterback as an offensive lineman. Also, as the linebacker, my teammates and I got better at deciding who to follow for interception and ensured the ball dropped on the playfield. I ensured I did not let one opposing team’s quarterback throw a ball to his wide receivers. I have gotten better with my defensive and protection skills. Wow, my coaches were proud of me that I learned from my actions quickly before improving my athletic abilities rapidly. As a result, we won a game for the second time. Although we did not get any Special Olympics medals from staff and organizers, I was relieved I got the 2024 Football Outreach gold medal for trying my best what I could. Lastly, I was relieved I met a former NFL player Ryan Grant. Inspired by him, his best advice was to try my best what I can, be a good leader for those who want to make good decisions and be a role model for those who can look up to me for help. Since I learned so many great things from him, I hope I will come back to Green Bay for a flag football tournament next year. This way, I can see more...
Read moreWe love the playground in the summer and the wonderful activities available during the winter! Winter 2019 there was ice skating and the sledding hill, of course (annual activities), but they also had a jump around platform that was FABULOUS and perfect for the younger kids. A big "grassy" platform that the more you ran and jumped and moved on it, the louder the music got and the more the lights lit up and flashed. My (at the time) 16mos old had a BLAST!!
The playground is unfortunately not year round :( that part is definitely a bummer. However, when it IS open, it is one of the most wonderful places to bring kids of all ages. The giant practice field is beautiful and spacious. Other kids have been SUPER aware and respectful and careful when the younger kids run out onto it. There is a race line section to race your friends and it displays your separate speeds, which is very cool. There are three major sections to the equipment. A baby/toddler section with slides, climbing equipment, a spinner, and as close to a baby safe teetertoter as I would think you could get.
There is what I would call a mock training section with obstacles that encourage football training like movement.
Then there is the third section. Its got a roller slide, a big kid slide, rope climbs, climbing equipment, and a GIANT football shaped and colored rope climbing frame that also forms a run through "tunnel".
All around the entire park is a walking track, benches, and even charging spots for your phone. There are benches and garbage cans. There are water fountains (currently in active due to COVID). There are even speaks that play music, and on game days play the game in real time.
All around this is a FABULOUSLY AMAZING place for the family year around.
Keep in mind the food and water for purchase options are TERRIBLY EXPENSIVE. Win the lottery or bring your own. Not sure on some of the activities that are scheduled and guided as so far my son is too young to...
Read moreTitletown is always a fun experience year round. In the summer there are loads of free things to come and do. They have ping pong tables, shuffleboard, and more set up in the plaza. There’s a full sized football field open to anybody who wants to use it. They also have free concerts and a farmers market which make for just a fun atmosphere. There are also plenty of programs they offer, my mom says she loves the yoga class. In the wintertime there’s a fun light show leading up to Christmas, a fun little sledding hill, and ice skating. Unfortunately the skating experience doesn’t live up to expectations. I’ve skated here every year for the past few years. It looks very fun when walking past or looking at pictures but it just doesn’t live up to the expectations. I’ve ice skates at quite a few rinks and I’ve never experienced rental skates as cheap, uncomfortable, and dull as these slates. You would think that a place like titletown would have enough money to buy some decent rental skates but it completely ruins the experience for me. I have scars on my ankles from the rubbing. But even if you do bring your own skates, the shape of the rink isn’t designed for the crowd it brings. I’ve had to slam on the brakes many times to avoid the few people it takes to block the far too narrow path (not that the dull blades do anything anyway). Overall I would highly recommend checking out titletown but maybe stay away from the rink if you don’t have...
