Came in yesterday it was so hot I couldn't stand being in there for more than a few minutes. They don't seem to have air-conditioning like alot of the older outdated buildings, guess it's the nature of the business there, still open a window cause wow was it hot. The store looks like it used to be hotel of sorts and there's a small isle to walk into in each room, it's odd tbh even being from here. There's an Athens astatic and then there's whatever that is. The dude up top front in the yellow star trek shirt never lifted his eyes from the laptop to greet us and he very clearly hasn't properly washed his clothes cause all I could smell was overwhelming mildew walking to the room right next to the register. Down stairs cashiers actually greeted us and the room although bare astaticly was nicer then the top. But watch your step! Both up stairs and down, when walking down with my sleeping daughter I didn't see the SECOND drop off and almost tripped, did the same one the stairs up top. You'll see what I mean if you visit. Idk whats going on there, they have to be making money, and probably enough money to fix all that. If you made it that far I should say i gave another star for the large collections, if you're looking they might have it, just might be an uncomfortable experience like...
Read moreI would be a regular here if I lived in Athens. They have a strong selection of graphic novels, artist's editions, trades, indies, pop culture ephemera, but a weak offering of back issues and no real wall comics worth mentioning. The inventory shows a deep respect for the history of comics. The store itself, however, is a jumble of stacks, comic boxes in disarray, hard to find sections (but staff are friendly and will tell you where to look). Despite looking like a bomb went off, it isn't dirty, doesn't smell like smoke or animals, and is well lit. Comic lovers should visit the store and spend some money. I found a Mignola sketchbook and a new in box Hip Hop Family Tree Volume 3 & 4, though it turned out to have a hard ding on one corner, not surprising considering that it was just lying on top of the shelved books where it had been found and never reshelved. But I'm happy with what I got and will surely go back and spend more dough when we...
Read moreThey charged me $2 over cover price for a normal Marvel issue just this week. They offered to refund the money so I wanted to note that on here. Make sure you pay attention at checkout so mistakes can be avoided.
Bizzaro-Wuxtry even over charged for issues they have to order that can be found cheaper online including shipping.
The back issues I looked through (mostly Spider-Man) are rarely organized and they do not honor price tags on the issues. The gentleman there said it is one of the most looked through and that is the reason.
And last, they have a very limited selection of new comics. The three stars is because they will order issues for you and they are the only place in town. That combined with older and newer toys among other random items. It is a better old toy store than comic shop. They will also offer to correct mistakes.
Iâll see how they do as time goes on and make...
