We did not have a good experience in this store. Staff seemed put off by us, unsure if that was because of my kids but seeing as how well behaved they are, this really bothered me. I walked past three people when we walked in. Not one person said hello. Went to the shoe section and had to wait 20 minutes for someone to ask me if we needed a size from the back. Then the shoes were just dropped off and the associate went back to the other side of the store. We were the only customers in there at the time. We needed a different size. A girl came out from the back, brought a different size and did help us but seemed more interested in selling a shoe even though the store did not carry the size we needed. She said 2 sizes up would be fine for a hiking shoe for my child. Wish she would have been more conscientious of the potential for blisters. We did purchase one pair for my youngest daughter. When I asked if I could return the shoe if we found it elsewhere (trying to find colors and sizes for both girls), one associate quickly said in a very snide voice, "they have to be returned as they are now". Was she implying we were going to wear them hiking and return them. If so, I really do not appreciate that at all. We ended up finding the shoes in appropriate sizes for both girls elsewhere and I HAPPILY returned the shoes we purchased from this store the very next day. I am thankful to spend our money and support a more friendly store. When we returned the shoes the next day my daughter was trying to talk to the sales associate and the girl working (same one who helped with the shoes the day before) COMPLETELY IGNORED HER. This is infuriating. We will NEVER return to this store. Shop local but support stores that seem to care about their customers...
Read moreI was riding down Prince avenue on my bike today. I hit a bump and immediately I knew my tire needed more air in it urgently. I stopped at the gas station across the street in an attempt to use their air machine. I was struggling. My tire wouldn’t fill!!
Out of nowhere, a beautiful and spirited Angel appeared with a bike pump! She was stunning. This sweet woman said she was from Half-Moon Outfitters and she noticed I was in a bad way. She had a ring in her nose, big sparkly eyes and her hair gleamed as it was touched by the sun. Absolutely beautiful. Was she a mirage? A modern day siren? Was she real? Hard to say.
I was star struck. Nervous and stuttering, I pumped my tire up, and just like that, this perfect creature from half moon outitters vanished from my life.
Who this wonderful woman is remains a mystery. Will I ever see her again? Will she be able to save me next time too? Alas, the universe is vast and full of possibilities. Don’t be surprised if I ride down Prince Avenue again with a partially deflated tire.
Whoever you are, whatever your name is, know this: Today after our encounter, I am a profoundly marked and changed man. I pray that I am lucky enough to be rescued by you...
Read moreWe took our dog Sadie to Athens with us for a weekend trip. That afternoon we took her for a walk downtown and had lunch. When we came upon this store, I figured I would have to wait outside while my daughter walked in. She saw a sign on their door as she was about to go in that said that they allowed dogs (with leashes)! They gave her some treats and had a bowl of water waiting inside.
The store had all my daughter's favorite brands: Patagonia, Chaco, ENO, North Face, Half-Moon stuff. When we got to the checkout, my daughter put a few stickers on the counter for me to purchase for a dollar a piece, but the cashier let us have them free of charge!
The staff was knowledgeable and very kind. The store had great products and a great setup and we will definitely be coming back when we take our next...
