Loved everyone but the guy working on my acrylics. He cut me with the machine twice. Finally finished my acrylics (with the wrong top coat and they looked below average) then proceeded to aggressively scrub my hand and broke my acrylic pinky nail. I was in a huge amount of pain. He did not say sorry. I told him that he broke my real nail and then he proceeded to put nail glue on my burning skin while pushing down causing worse pain. I told him my nail was burning, to stop and that I was in a lot of pain. Then he soaked my nail in ACETONE. The acetone burned so much that I had to take it out… he keep asking me to put my nail back in the acetone. I had to tell him that I am not putting my nail in acetone because it burned so bad (I needed antiseptic). He agrued and said it would help which it doesn’t…. I have never been in this amount of pain getting my nails done. The acetone caused an infection on the open wound and my nail had built up pus and liquid pus coming out of it for days. My nail is now ripped from my nail bed and will fall off soon. I would pay just not to have him do my nails it was pure torture. The worst part is they never offered me a discount or showed that they were sorry. One bad nail technician can make a good business look bad.

Made an appointment using their online system with Sophia, but when I got there, I got placed with a young man who was outside smoking as I was walking into the building. The place is kind of dirty, very dusty. This is my second time there and cleanliness is not their priority. I went in for a classic manicure with traditional polish and needed removal of existing gel polish. According to their services list, the classic manicure is $17 and gel polish removal is $5. I was charged $30 at checkout? Is my math not mathing? Also, I pulled up my sleeves and took off my watch because I figured there would be a hand and arm massage with the manicure, that's what the description says anyway, but there was not. More Disappointingly, my polish didn't even last an hour. Sat in front of their drying fan for 5 to 10 minutes, he used some kind of enamel spray, I drove home which took about 15–20 minutes. I went to change out of my work clothes and my nails smudged! I would go back to get them fixed but don't want to deal with traffic. Annoyed.

This place had a lot of good reviews so I was excited to come in. Everybody was very friendly when I entered. I hadn't gotten A fill-in in a while, but I don't remember them costing the same price as a full set... What's the point in filling them in instead of just replacing the whole thing if it's the same price? Other than wear and tear on the nail of course... Regardless, I didn't have many complaints other than Price, but now that I have left and am 24 hours out from getting my fresh fill in, my nails are already starting to come off. She didn't file them down at all which seems silly considering they weren't this long when I got them the first time... And now I feel like they are so long that they are all pulling off from my nail. Lame because 60 bucks is hard to spare these days, especially to treat yourself to something nice.... And now it looks like I'm going to have to try and find another 60 bucks just to get these fixed. :/

I would really like to give this place a good rating-- but I can't because I have not even been able to go. Apparently, this shop is appointment only, which is great if your online booking system works.

Attempted to make an appointment this morning, several times and each time the system said that they could not validate my card. Well, that is complete BS, definitely a system issue. I tried several times before calling the shop itself. Advised the gentleman who answered the phone that I was trying to make an appointment but their system is malfunctioning. He stated that he could not do anything about that because it is done through a third party, fair enough, definitely understandable.

My problem comes when I tell him that I still need to make an appointment , but he does not help me. I understand that this is 2019 and the age of technology, but technology malfunctions sometimes, and when that happens there is a good old pen and paper that can keep you from losing business. I could even provide the card number over the phone if they are worried about serial appointment skippers.

Unfortunately, for myself and them, I will never experience this shop based off of the lack of basic customer service skills. When a potential new customer is attempting to establish a business relationship and your system is not functioning as it should, you figure out how to retain that...

So I'm not one to do reviews but after speaking with my daughter who was there 2 days ago, I just had to. I googled to find this place for her because I enjoy the benefits of dip-powder nails here in NYC, and she was struggling with nubs (hey that's the gel mani effect, ijs)... she called and was only able to get an appt for her nails not a pedi(they're that busy) and she still left feeling like she was on cloud9. Alan was the one who did her nails that time :) 5Stars! Well on a last minute surprise trip to ATL I was stuck in the situation of needing to do my nails and she happened to have an appt with Tinh, so I accompanied her. Let's say I was squeezed into a cancellation and was lucky to have Alan do a Fabulous job on my coffin French manicure which I loved. I LOVED my experience there at Nail Shack just as much as my daughter (tho I'm much more easy going than my daughter-she never knows what color she wants lol) and when I'm in ATL again I'll be sure to make an appt cause the service was Super! In the meantime I'll continue to enjoy Cindy in NYC while my child gloats about her Nail Shack experience. I would definitely recommend others here, it's worth...
