My experience at the Earl was remarkably ordinary.
Let me elaborate, the staff was very attentive at carding to go in, helping with directions and crucial details, they made no exceptions because of family, or because someone drove from another state AND brought 2 whole sets of cupcakes. Nobody under 21.
The bartender on the venue side offered me a straw and an explanation "it's made with agave" this set the tone to an upscale experience. I went back outside to join my friend (who was playing amongst like 20 other people) and ordered food while enjoying a hefty discount, on top of a reasonable price and a great meal prepared in less than it took to get my seat warm.
While we were waiting I asked for the obvious, I had never been to this spot south of i20 "has this place always been like, this... Upscale?" The server reacted and confirmed this place is a living legend, "it's always been the same" a 5-stars 2-star bar.
The sound system was the most extensive you would think, specially for a 200 people venue. The quality of the sound mixing was so good it was unthought of, the sound guy decided that for these rock bands, the kick was the only thing on the sub, a young sound guy from another (new) venue snobbishly objected, of course, But that's the same guy who praised their loudness levels.
Honestly I felt like there was a very wide stereo field, probably the sound booth had the best experience rather than in front of the stage. But to my grateful surprise, the bartender had earplugs, so I wore them all night long and lived right next to the stage.
Their procedures and equipment are the quality of a brand new arena's, they should make it a recording studio in the daytime.
And the funniest part is the way they mark...
Read moreI stumbled into The EARL for the reason that I was in the neighborhood for an appointment and when my appointment was done I wanted to eat. The EARL was the only restaurant along the strip open at 4:30 on a Sunday. So why not? I walked in and seated myself at a table. One of the servers brought me a menu and took my drink order. The menu is a normal bar/pub type menu except I don’t recall seeing wings or a dip on it. Doesn’t matter. I was happy with the vegan/vegetarian options on the menu. Most places you go has just a vegan/vegetarian burger or a salad on their menu. The EARL offered a few extra items that was refreshing for the scene. I was in the mood for a burger. Lol I got the black bean burger, vegetarian style. It was different for the sauce options to be salsa and sour cream, but it was enjoyable. For those who don’t like spicy hot foods, this was a good choice for you. I added Tabasco for a slight hint of spice. Paired my burger with the shoe string fries. I wouldn’t call them shoe string, maybe toothpick. When I think shoe string, I’m imagining a cluster of spiral-ish, super thin pieces of potatoes. Either way, the meal was yummy. The environment is a nice hipster area south of 20, for those who don’t want to pay for parking in the hipster area north of 20. Rock music and Shrek playing in the background. Writings on the bathroom walls. Wooden tables and seats with some outdoor seating. This was a nice environment. My server was friendly. The people I see working have this adorable hipster vibe to them: piercings, tats, clothes. Good...
Read morei have been to The Earl 4 times before i decided to show up again. the first 3 times were amazing, i don't know who was in the kitchen cooking but i had the earl shrimp tacos and i ordered the same thing every time i went back. The tacos were so amazing, the food was cooked to perfection and i can tell it was served fresh off the grill. This time i ordered the steak tacos and i'm not sure if thats how the steak is served or if it was already made and reheated but, when i got my food the server ( short caucasian lady with glasses and wild curly hair) seemed like she had an attitude but maybe thats her personality. After getting my order it wasn't satisfying as i said stated earlier and so i asked if they could reheat it and they did but afterwards the food just wasn't the same and not to mention my friend found a piece of hair in his food and i asked if we could just order food to go instead of paying for what we ordered to sit down and eat and the waiter asked the manager and i was told that they'd rather not have us get the same order to go if it wasn't made right the first time and they comped everything and we just left. I like the earl and i have nothing bad to say this was just my experience going there this time. I still do recommend the earl because they have great food and the drinks...
