Northside Youth Organization — Attraction in Atlanta

I attempted to sign my son up for basketball, meanwhile I paid the full $375 fee upfront. He was automatically placed on the waitlist since he was not a returning player from last year, only for them to not have enough space to accommodate everyone who signed up. While disappointed, we understood that this was a possibility since it is a popular organization in the area. However, it is now over a week later from them informing me, and we have yet to receive a refund. I find this unacceptable as well as frustrating because I would like to attempt to sign him up for another league yet have nearly $400 tied up in a league he won't be playing for.

Update: NYO contacted me to say my refund was on its way. It is now 12 days after that initial contact and NO REFUND has been made. I have called and emailed them and NO ONE has contacted me. We have played baseball, basketball, and sideline cheer. They have all been wonderful. I have read some of the comments about “daddy ball” and I’m sure there are some volunteer dads that are playing favorites as this happens anywhere. We have not experienced it at NYO but have at other parks. My advice is that if this happens please inform the league heads ASAP. Played my youth sports at NYO, and now my kids have done the same. WHAT A GREAT PLACE TO SPEND TIME AS A YOUTH. Lifelong friends for kids and parents alike. The organization is almost exclusively run by volunteers (I think there is ONE PERSON on the payroll)... I'm guessing 10,000 hours of volunteer time a year to keep it going.
