I ate at Goldberg's for the first time ever a couple of hours ago. What an experience! For such a relatively small establishment, they really get packed on Sundays for lunch. I got there around 10:30 thinking I would beat the rush, and there was already a line for dine-in extending out the door. Very diverse crowd too, which was fun to watch and nice to see.
The food was okay. I was not disappointed, but I was not wow'ed either. Will likely try something different on the menu next time in hopes of finding a "favorite" item for future return visits. I had chicken n waffles.....good waffle, but chicken was a bit dark and overcooked. Just fried a bit too long. I saw biscuit beignets on a nearby table that looked tasty.....
My server was great though. With so much happening it was fun to sit back and people-watch while waiting for my food, and Richard was everywhere. I'd look up and he'd be helping seat someone. Then I'd look up again and he would be topping off drinks (his tables and others). Then I'd look up and he'd be helping to bus tables for reseating. Then next time he'd be running arms full of plates to several tables. The man can scoot. And although the whole place was extremely chaotic, he was always attentive in checking on me--my food was hot on arrival and my drink was never lower than half-full. And although he had an incredible sense of urgency he never seemed flustered. In a day and age where good service is increasingly hard to find--I appreciated his efforts for me and the other patrons.

Read moreI hate writing a negative review of a longtime favorite breakfast restaurant of ours especially during the time of Covid, but...I have tried to reach out to the restaurant through their website contact page and by phone without success. We placed an online 'to go' order for curbside pickup last Sunday for 3 people. The first issue was that there was no way to get curbside service when we got there because their phone number had a "full mailbox" and did not answer. I walked in and waited for my order along with many others (exactly what I was trying to avoid). Once I finally got our order home and checked it we found an incomplete and incorrect order in so many ways (sides left out, paid extra charge for bagel on a sandwich we didn't receive, omelet cooked with ingredients we specifically said we wanted left out, etc. ). The woman who handed me our order commented that they only have 1 phone line when I mentioned the phone issue. Why would an established restaurant that depends on phone orders and say they offer curbside only have 1 phone line? When I called the restaurant today to share my experience privately the phone is still not being answered and has a full mailbox! My family has enjoyed Goldberg's for decades but we will not be coming back anytime soon. Terrible customer service...
Read moreIf I could leave zero stars, I would. I stopped by Goldberg’s to pick up a food order and left completely shocked by the unprofessionalism of the front-of-house staff. The woman working the counter—her name started with a “B” and she had facial piercings—was outright rude. She was loudly badmouthing other customers and even joked about how “funny” it would be if someone left a bad review. Well, here you go.
When I tried to ask about my order, she didn’t respond—she just turned around and walked away without acknowledging me. No greeting, no update, nothing. Just attitude and a complete lack of basic customer service.
What’s even more disappointing is that Goldberg’s has been a staple in the community for years. There used to be a standard of hospitality, quality, and professionalism you could count on. Sadly, that reputation clearly doesn’t mean anything to whoever is being allowed to run the front counter now.
As a general manager in the restaurant industry, I can tell you this kind of behavior would never be acceptable on my team. If this is the face of your business, then you’re actively pushing customers away. Management seriously needs to reevaluate who they’re hiring to represent the...
