Sugarcoat Virginia Highland — Attraction in Atlanta

wow. where do I even begin to start? I came to this salon with one of my friends expecting incredible service. I thought the salon looked very cute, and clean. Not to mention that’s the impression once you walk in. An older woman did my nails, and didn’t notice any problem with my nails, or the health of them until a few days later. Not to mention, my nails cost $90. For the price, I expect nothing but quality service, AND healthy nails. That was not in my cards because this nail salon does NOT clean their utensils. Do not be fooled with the pleasant aesthetic they give off. I definitely was. I began to have excruciating pain in one of my nails as the days went on. My acrylic fell off, and below was a purple colored nail (my real nail) filled with blood. The blood would not stop coming out of my nail. I was horrified, and extremely scared. I also cried due to how painful this was! It’s one thing for your acrylic to fall off due to natural causes, but this was an INFECTION. this happened 6 days after my nail visit at SugarCoat. I immediately went to the doctor, for them to let me know it is indeed infected. I got on an antibiotic and a cream to help heal my nail. Not only am I spending more money, am in pain, and wasting MY TIME to go to a doctor to fix something this crooked nail salon did to me. I was furious. I went to SugarCoat and let them know of the situation, they gave me my money back. Do not waste your time with this salon. Unless you or a loved one of yours wants an infection to waste your time and energy with. Almost two months later, I’m still dealing with issues with the nail that was infected and it has now fell off. SugarCoat does not deserve to be in business when they do not clean their utensils that they use on several people day after day. If they did, I would not have to deal with this extremely gruesome process. So ridiculous. Do not come here!!! Probably the worst salon I’ve ever been to due to the outcome! Do not let looks fool you. It’s a very cute salon but the staff has no idea what they are doing, and they are putting their clients and customers health in jeopardy. It's unfortunate and disappointing that after 5 years being a patron here and recommending people to this salon, I will not be coming back. I have been entirely flexible and accommodating with them when they've had me wait on their nail techs or rescheduled me (even when I have an appointment), but they couldn't grant me the same grace today. I missed a call from the salon as I was parking directly in front of their salon door. The door was open, they see me pay for parking, and when I walk in the receptionist was on the phone, so I wait. Only for her to tell me after that I'm late and she tried calling and now my tech can't take me...oh really? Then she proceeds to make the offer that they have an opening tomorrow but not with my nail tech, as if that's comparable. Let it be known not all of their tech's are good, especially with SNS, so no, hard pass. I've paid for my nails there way too many times with a bad tech, and I won't be doing that anymore. I guess I'll be going to a new lovely salon in my neighborhood versus driving out of my way, paying for parking as they see me doing it, only to turn me away. Find yourself another salon where they'll appreciate your business and treat you well for being a regular! The only thing I'll miss here is my nail tech, but certainly not...

Updating my review!! I love Sugarcoat Virginia Highlands because I am treated like I matter. The staff is professional and kind. The atmosphere is inviting and clean. The products and services are top tier. To name a few Linda is the best, you are guaranteed to get smile and warm welcome from her. She always works with my availability in getting me scheduled for an appointment. I copy some of her nail styles too lol. Thank you also to the additional staff member (will add her name) who helps me in selecting my nail colors and scheduling my appointments. She is always willling to assist whenever there is a need. Ana and Han are both wonderful nail technicians that have provided me outstanding service whenever I need it. I see Jennifer regularly and I appreciate her high level of skill and talent.
