Big 5 Sporting Goods — Attraction in Auburn

I stopped here to buy some hiking sandals for me and my fiance. They had a single type of women's sandals, and 6 types of men's. I get a coupon in the mail every month for this store.

I signed up for their online club for their sale on 9/11/2021, this store had prices on "doorbuster" items that were all 4-6$+ higher than advertised, and they would not price match their own advertising, for some reason. There was a lantern advertised as a doorbuster for $15.99 in the paper they sent me. The lantern was priced at $19.99 at the store.

This is the third time I have been to this store for something specific and left with nothing due to prices being different than advertising or them simply not having a selection. I was able to find the shoes I needed at the local mall for $30 cheaper than their fake sale price, as well as the lantern I needed. I'm sure they may be great for others, but for me this store is just terrible. I have been to other Big 5 stores that are leagues better than this particular one.

4 stars because Colby an associate there was VERY helpful (Deserves a shout out!)and very kind. The first thing he said to us was if there was anything he could help us find? which is such a GREAT open ended question! I also, liked how when we asked a question about a product he did not know about he passed the buck (as we would say at my work) to get the answer. Very pleasant experience. I will definitely think about recommending this place for work boots! The only reason why I didnt give it a 5 is because, I felt like one of the associates kept following us around like they were profiling us or something. We were both blessed with baby faces haha thanks to our parents. We make good money and would never steal lol but other than that...

Kyrie, the sales associate, really impressed me for a kid his age. He was very courteous, helpful and was willing to help me with my purchase running back and forth to the stockroom to look for the right size of hiking shoes for me despite them being on Clearance. It didn't matter to him if my budget wasn't for something expensive, he still gave me the best customer service. I commended this young man to his supervisor, Brian, who was as pleasant and had a great personality with that of his staff and he agreed that they were fortunate to hire him.
