Definitely highly recommend. We venture haunted houses year round. One of the best!
The above review was for a promo at the end of the haunted houses.
Below is my HONEST review... I just felt I needed to elaborate on the above a little more... It was a Friday night, the weather was great, and Aurora had the luminara festival going on. It was that 85 degree October 11th, day. If you are looking for a fun scare, THIS is a place to try. Unique characters and from the entrance set up by itself had my attention. I don't want to give any spoilers. Small groups, not crowded, and we were granted VIP entrance because I wore my Disturbia Haunted House shirt. We felt special. OUR wait time less than 10 minutes. The haunted houses lasted long enough for me to say an hour at least for both, if not it definitely felt like it, but it went by with a fun flow.
I have to admit, this place did NOT disappoint us. Affiliated with family attachment in a way to Disturbia Haunted House so it's a close tie in which one to win. However, we will be going to Disturbia tomorrow night. It wouldn't be fair to give a judgement until AFTER going. We go to a lot of "haunted holiday" themed houses. Usually AT Disturbia. It sort of became our thing. Our first "date" was over 2 years ago to Joliet Haunted Prison. Which we hyped ourselves up for since we remember how cool it was the last time we had been, which was quite a while ago for both of us, but not together, obviously... Anyway we went and BOTH walked out SO disappointed that we agreed to NEVER go back... We haven't. Like I said "It's OUR thing.". By the way, for the record, I am NOT in ANY way affiliated with anyone employed or affiliated with in any way to MY knowledge of Basement of The Dead or Disturbia. I'm just an honest customer and Google reviewer.
Also of you're interested sign up for their texts and emails for promotional prices on tickets. I started with their website and joined for free texts and emails. Simple. Easy. Smart.
Oh I NEVER mentioned how inexpensive it was. The deal I purchased was ALL THREE haunted houses, any given date and time, for half price of half price. So basically I purchased 2 tickets for the price I would have paid for one entry into ONE of the Haunted houses. This was a promotional pre-order limited amount of tickets offer.
Yes, there are THREE Haunted houses. One is a 3D, glasses given, air brushed, black light, and room moving action. Located in Aurora almost attached to Basement of The Dead. It's VERY close. IT did NOT disappoint either.

Read moreFirst off, this wasn’t the easiest place to find. I was navigated fairly close to this haunted house, but it’s located behind the street. Luckily, I saw the vehicle with their name on it. Oddly, they sold tickets out of this vehicle. I did manage to find free parking down the road. I purchased General Admission Combo Tickets online for my girlfriend and I. These tickets allowed us to go to Basement of the Dead/Shattered 3D and Disturbia, which is located in Downers Grove. It let us come anytime during open hours and split the days up between the two locations. I paid about $120 for both Combo Tickets. It seemed like a good deal online.
The line was very weird. They had us go through a garage-type building to scan our tickets and start our wait. It quickly swerved into a tight corner and then after a bit, they directed us to go to a lower level part of the line down some stairs. The layout was just so bad. They had some actors interact with the line throughout our wait. They eventually threw free items to the line that consisted of shot glasses and T-shirts. I was lucky enough to catch a T-shirt. It was an XL, so that was disappointing, but oh well. It was a cool feature they had. Our wait ended up being about an hour and a half, but I kind of expected it would be, as we went on a Friday.
They had us go into a tent-type area with a small group that they formed before directing us into the haunted house. The beginning was definitely odd, since they had us get really low to the ground underneath a tarp-type concoction. There were too any blockages of people here. They may have rushed to send people in. It didn’t take too long to walk through this house. I wasn’t too into this house. Nothing really stood out here.
Right after we exited the Basement of the Dead Haunted House, we went to Shattered 3D. It’s basically a few steps away after you exit. We were handed 3D glasses for this attraction. There wasn’t really a wait for this one. I liked the theme here better. This place was a lot more vibrant. The scare actors seemed to be more interactive in here. They had some cool floor features in here. The glasses made me feel more involved with the attraction opposed to the first. It was around the same time to walk this attraction.
Overall, this haunt was pretty bad. The vibe it gave me while I waited wasn’t spooky. If they didn’t have Shattered 3D, I would have gave them a one star for sure. I feel they could do a lot better, but at a different location.

Read moreWe had an incredible time! We went on day two of them first opening up for the season. Right when we arrived, there was already quite a few actors trying to scare us. The costumes & makeup were amazing! The music was a great touch as well. We paid for general admission but honestly not too bad at all. We only waited a total of one hr and we timed it out on our phones so this is accurate lol We didn’t mind the wait because the actors made it very entertaining by trying to scare you in the actual waiting line. Watch out! They might come up behind you or crawl on the floor to jump scare you! Lol We loved it. The actual haunted house inside is great! Lots of fog, loud sounds, animatronics, actors, and the 3D part was Awesome! The actors did such a amazing job scaring us - they even were crawling on the floor lol The 3D part was especially interesting and did not expect. Lol They give you 3D glasses and there is a whole thing where things pop out and colors are popping out at you. We spent around 30 min in the actual haunted house part so it was decently long haunt. We went to Hellsgate last year so the whole time I was comparing which is better. Hellsgate is amazing as well so I literally can’t decide which is better. Basement of the dead is a 10 out of 10. I think the way you have to think about it is that Hellsgate has a whole outside theme where they take you to the bus and then drop you off at another location. So it creates that suspense and then they have a whole outside haunt before you even get inside the haunted house. Basement of the dead is all INSIDE but it is just as long duration wise as Hellsgate. Basement has the 3D theme starting in the middle of the haunt so it creates two different themes without changing whole scenery. Added bonus is that it was not cold and still warm out so go in the beginning of the season so you...
