Went to a work Christmas party there was 12 of us , arrived around 7:35 had to pay an 8$ cover charge for som band Semple or something like that, the band didn't even play till 10. So basically I was being charged to eat at their establishment, on top of the already expensive prices for food and drink. Our waiter took forever which I guess you can't blame him when they are obviously short staffed (it took 25+ minutes to get our tabs closed after asking twice). I went up to the manager because I couldn't understand why I was being charged to eat there when I defiantly wasn't staying around till ten to see the band the manager told me getting my money back wasn't going to be a problem just tell the people taking cover that the manager (Jason or Kevin was his name) in the green shirt said to refund us, so leaving before ten we try to get back our money and they won't reimburse all our girls because even though there are a ton of people coming in and out the door the lady taking money pretends she remembers everyone who has been in the restaurant and been charged, all our girls clearly have stamps on their hands showing they have been charged and she refuses money has an attitude is yelling at us,at one point runs off with the cash box and the manager (same guy I talked to earlier) comes out and takes her side, we are paying costumer we easily spent a nice chunk of money there and are given no respect, I get that the band isn't their band but everyone you have play at your establishment is a reflection of you and by charging 3hours in advance to "see" a band play that isn't even playing is a poor . Basically I was charged a 8$ cover fee to eat cold fries, drink a 9$ "alcoholic", not see a band play, and be disrespected. I won't be wasting my...
Read moreThis is a fantastic Irish restaurant within walking distance of the Paramount Theater in Aurora. For an appetizer we got the Loaded Beer Cheese Fries. The fries were covered with cheese, fried onion strings and bacon. BBQ Pork is available for an extra $3. The cheese fries satisfied my wife’s Wisconsin native picky cheese palate. For the mains I got the Chicken Boxty and my wife got the Corned Beef Boxty. For those who don’t know a Boxty is basically a potato pancake wrap. A traditional Irish dish. An old Irish saying goes "Boxty on the griddle; boxty on the pan. If you can't make boxty, you'll never get a man!" Not very PC today but, it shows how big a deal they were in Ireland. The chicken one was stuffed with copious amounts of peas, mushrooms, spinach and diced chicken in a white wine cream sauce. I ordered it despite hating peas because I’m allergic to beef. Even with the peas it was delicious! Super flavorful and the peas even had a good flavor. The corned beef Boxty was stuffed with delicious corned beef, sauerkraut, 1000 island, brown mustard, Swiss cheese and cabbage. She loved it and wants another right now!! All I can say is it looked and smelled really good. I didn’t taste it since I didn’t want to be sick. I was very tempted though! For desserts we got the Irish Bread Pudding served warm with cinnamon and real whipped cream. It was a perfect finish to an amazing meal. This place does have a feel of a pub with lots of weathered wood and Irish flair. We are season ticket holders at Paramount Theatre and will be going here before our next...
Read moreI had good expectations from this place , until I arrived. It was a busy Saturday night, so I give a little slack. We waited for almost an hour to be seated. By this time most of the dinner rush had cleared out. However the wait staff was more interested in cleaning up and counting their tips then waiting on the new arrivals. We sat for a good 15 minutes before we got service. When she finally arrived she was pleasant. Then the first beer I ordered was not in stock, even though it was listed. I reordered something else, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t what I ordered. My girlfriends drink tasted like water, however they did fix it for her. Now the food. My girlfriend ordered something called a Boxty. It sounded good. A stuffed potato pancake! Well not quite, it seemed more like a boxed pancake mix with some thawed out chicken dumped on it. It was far from delicious. I ordered fish and chips. Pretty straight forward right? Nope. I received no tartar sauce like the menu said. When I asked for some the server returned empty handed, and explained they had ran out and were making more. Ok, 15 minutes later I received something that smelled like mayonnaise and feet. The fish itself was soggy with oil, and cold by now. Good thing the fries were good, otherwise I would have had nothing to eat. When I mentioned my disappointment to the server, she got an attitude, so I didn’t bother...
