I went in to this place since my daughter does competition cheer and the event was in Plainfield Illinois. Aurora was on the way back home, so I googled good tacos, and this place immediately came up. Reading the reviews, and seeing some of the photos, it looked like a decent place, so we gave it a try. The service was not the best. Our waiter took our drink orders, and came back with them about 10 minutes later. At this point we ordered chips with guacamole, instead he brought us chips with salsa. We did not complain, and we just had that instead. We ordered our food. I had a variety of tacos (al pastor, lengua, Cabeza, tripa). My wife had a barbacoa gordita and a taco al pastor. My 12 year old daughter had 2 steak tacos. The food was brought out surprisingly fast. I tried the tripa taco first. The waiter did not ask me how I wanted the tripa done, I like it crispy but not burnt. It was not crispy at all, it was as they just boiled it and served it on the taco. The Cabeza was okay, but kind of dry. The lengua was overcooked and dry as well (this is pretty hard to do). The taco al Pastor was also overcooked and the meat was very dry. I think they might use pork leg instead of pork butt to make it because it was honestly extra dry. The salsa verde and the roja were okay, not spicy not great. My wife and daughter had agua de horchata, honestly the one my wife makes is 10 times better. I had a negra modelo michelada, this was okay. Our waiter never came back to check on us, I would have drank another beer, and would of tried one of the tacos dorados. From the reviews this place has I was pretty hyped to try it, but it...
Read moreMy family and I love eating out, we are always on a journey to find the best tasting food around the area. This weekend we were in Aurora, IL near the Hollywood Casino. We drove a couple blocks west from the casino and were attracted by the looks of a restaurant called Jalisco Tacos Autentico. If you know downtown Aurora you may agree with me that it is small yet busy and full of energy, not to mention that parking is always a hassle. When we arrived at Jalisco Tacos Autentico, right away I notice that this place is very convenient with available parking on the rear. When I got out of the car I could smell the freshly cooked food. As I approached the entrance my loved one and I looked each other and smile. At this point I was confident that we had made the right choice. We all got a table an looked at the different options from the menu. I ordered a Chicken Sope, one Soft Chicken Taco and two Crispy Shredder beef tacos. My son ordered the Chicken Torta and My wife ordered a hot and steamy Posole. The portions on their dishes are very well measured we were completely satisfied with the taste, looks and service. Te staff is welcoming and gentle and have a well understanding of the authentic traditions. Personally I have added this restaurant to my favorites list as I do visit Aurora from time to time. I challenge you to come in and try their Chicken Sopes. Trust me, They...
Read moreSunday at noon was the time and day of our trip to this restaurant. The place was full but not packed. Service was decent however, we were given no instructions as to payment so we waited for quite some time before deciding to pay at the cashier. We were told that we were correct about paying there. For our meals, we had menudo and two gorditas. One gordita of rajas and the other of chicharron. The menudo was pretty good, portion size even for the small bowl was quite large. The rajas gordita was tasty. The chicharron gordita needed to be more spicy and a tad less salty. For some reason, I thought it may not have been from a fresh batch. It also neeeded a compliment such as cabbage and sour cream. Overall though, not bad. We also had coffee which was surprisingly good. Finally, we tried a michelada made with Modelo beer. The michelada was very good. The atmosphere was friendly but very loud though, music by the kitchen and noise everywhere else. To sum up, I think this restaurant is worth another visit to try some of the dinner items. Decent experience for the...
