La Quinta de los Reyes Aurora — Restaurant in Aurora Township

We visited this restaurant on 9/16/2020 driving a hour and half. Arrived at the restaurant at 6:30 p.m.. We wanted to do something different for my sister’s birthday. When we arrived they were not very busy. We did sit outside. Waitress that said I said that they would be bringing us some salsa, guacamole with chips. We stated please not hot. The items arrived at our table 1st bite of salsa was extremely hot. Once the waiter did arrive to our table explained that it needed to be replaced and to please don’t let it be hot. We were only given one menu. Before ordering myself I have celiac‘s disease. Specifically asked the waiter multiple times if there was any types of soy in their stir fry. He said no no no. So between the three of us we decided to do the fajita Dinner for two meal deal our choice of meat was chicken, shrimp and steak. We do not eat pork! We also asked what was included. He stated beans, lettuce, rice, guacamole , Salsa, cheese and sour cream. Plus corn tortillas and flour tortillas. We did have drinks also. Took about 35 to 45 minutes before we did get our food. Once our food was brought to the table we had to wait a while to catch the waiter to ask what was all the meats. We had more than three meats. Come to find out we had pork and sausage on the tray also. The vegetables were on the bottom all the meat was piled on top.There was no rice when I asked he said he go get it we never received it. Same goes for the sour cream. We asked for extra napkins because we only had one napkin a person. After 15 minutes proceeded to go inside The waiter was coming out and looked at me and said oh no I forgot. We had brought a birthday cake in which had to be kept in the refrigerator. They lost the attached card. When trying to ask the waiter any types of questions it was very hard for him to understand what we were saying. There was a table right next to us were two young ladies were having dinner. They had went to the restroom. The bus person came and proceeded to start to clean off the table even though the two young ladies had full drinks still sitting there plus to go boxes on the table. We said to the gentleman twice they had not left. He ignored us and cleared their whole table. When we checked out said some thing to the woman at the register about the two young ladies. Her reply was many don’t Understand English. In which explains why the waiter really messed up our order. Not sure what was worse the fact they didn’t get the order that we ordered or all three of us getting sick on the way home. All day the following day. At the time of check out to be told they were understaffed that’s why they were having issues. She also said that they weren’t expecting to be that busyNeedless to say I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. If you want Awesome Mexican I’d come to Rockford Illinois to Mexico Clasico you will not be disappointed. We wasted time gas and money to receive the worst...

I have gone several times to have lunch with my dad and have had great customer service and the food was amazing. But today was my worse experience ever. Today I decided to bring my boyfriend so he can have homemade tortillas and taste the great food. Well we got seated and took the waitress about 10min to get to us. We ordered our drinks and ordered the quesadilla appetizer. Well it literally took about 25 to get the quesadilla I had to ask our waitress why is it taking so long. She like oh yeah let me go see. Well she brought it and was kind of cold but we didn’t say anything. We told her give us a couple min and u can come back to take our food order. We were waiting and waiting for a good 30min. We finished out drinks and mind you never got a refill on water either. I was getting very annoyed. So I went to speak to I think was owner or manager and told him what is going on. After another 10 min the waitress comes to us and says everything ok? I’m like no and was telling her wth why is it taking u so long to come take our order. She is like u told me to come back. I’m like yes but not 30 min later. Then instead of the owner or manger coming to our table they send another waitress to tell us oh we are very sorry don’t worry u don’t have to pay for you got. I’m like no that is not what we want we want to know why is it taking forever to get to us. While everyone around us was getting taken care of in a timely fashion. I would see our waitress go to her other tables back every so often but not to us. I was very upset 😡. I have come to the conclusion why we were treated this way. I noticed lots of people staring at us even the waiters in the back were staring I really felt that they were being racist towards my boyfriend who is black and me being Mexican maybe they didn’t like seeing that. I have never in my 10 yrs going anywhere with my boyfriend have I ever felt the way I did today. When we left I was very angry 😡 to the point I started to cry and I was shaking on how upset I was . One salsa maker for an entire restaurant left us waiting a long time with our food already on the table. And the salsa was not worth the wait. Perhaps on other nights they have more than one maker, though this was a Saturday night. The salsa maker at your table is just a gimmick; she is just combining pre-made ingredients.

44$ for the parillada for two and the spoonful of guacamole that came with it was prepackaged. I asked the waiter why it was brown and not fresh and he explained that it came prepackaged; fresh was an additional 3.50 charge. A $44 plate does not warrant 25 cents worth of fresh guacamole? I then asked for fresh guacamole -- and it never came.

What I thought were piles of food on neighboring tables, turned out to be MOUND SHAPED platters that contained a scant amount of food. The plate is loaded with bell peppers and onions as filler with a mediocre amount of actual poor quality meat. I filled up on tortillas -- undercooked

The food came out in mere minutes, and that's never a good sign. It means you are being served precooked old food being served from a buffet in the kitchen. They could at least have pretended to wait to serve us as if the food were being prepared fresh.

I don't mind paying well for good food, but this restaurant is just cheap. I think it uses good atmosphere to bilk people into overpaying for low quality, poorly prepared food.

I've had immensely better Mexican food.

This is one of the most expensive Mexican restaurants in the area and the stingiest with the food quality.

If I want to pay that kind of money, I will go to Bien Trucha in Geneva and actually enjoy my meal.

And the final straw? my son was even disappointed in the kiddie chicken fingers and french fries. C'mon guys.

I give them 1 positive note for the musicians, they were the only thing I enjoyed.
