Expo Park in Aurora is a great neighborhood park. The recreation center is always clean and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable about activities. There is a small workout room a ms well as a variety of exercise and other activities offered.
There is a outdoor playground suitable for toddlers as well as young children. The basketball court and tennis courts have been recently renovated and are in great condition. (As a side note, this is not a huge tennis playing neighborhood- the city should have added additional basketball courts and reduced the number of tennis courts.)
There are well maintained walking paths around and through Expo Park. They are wide enough for dog walking, bike riding, roller blaring, ect.
Expo Park has a disc golf course, and it is used all the time! There are also 2 fenced baseball fields.
The park is also used for little league football and soccer practices and games.
There are a few areas around the park suitable for family gatherings. However, there are no pavilions or picnic tables so bring your own! The city did plant many new trees last year and as they mature it will help beautify the park as well as add needed shade.
Many people use the park to walk and exercise their dogs. There are doggy waste bag stations available in several locations around the park. (Please use them and dispose of your dogs waste!)

Read moreThis was a first disc golf round here for us relative novices. For those who hold their limited # of discs close, it's not the best in windy conditions. For those willing to play safe or risk discs, this is a reasonable challenge. It definitely favors righty vs. lefty backhands. A disc retrieval pole or device comes in handy. There were probably 4-6 people wading/dredging for discs. A number of these lost and now found, likely with numbers, lie on the shoreline. The pedestrians aren't too bothersome, though other players can make one twitch if in your line, #9, 10 in particular. Distances from 160-398' make for some birdie ops. Some like this for tag matches, Thurs 3p, Sun. 10a. There's a port-o-pot, basketball hoops, softball fields, and concrete paths for other fun. One cool thing is the distance are engraved into the tee pads. All...
Read moreI grew up in this neighborhood (right near Expo Park) so I have been going to this park very regularly for over 35 years. The neighborhood has had its various ups and downs, but lately, I have been seeing some noticeable improvements to the park. There is a lot less "illicit" activity that I notice these days and a lot more people utilizing the park for what a park is meant to be used for (biking, walking, running, sports, family activities, etc). The disc golf course has been here for, I believe, about 15 years, but it wasn't until the past 2-3 years or so that disc golfers will come to Expo regularly. The course used to be nearly empty 7 days a week. But lately the couse has a steady flow of golfers all day every day. That's nice to see, as opposed to the other nefarious stuff that went on at Expo for...
