Moorhead Recreation Center — Attraction in Aurora

All in all we love this rec center. I'm giving 3 stars for two reasons. Issue #1: There is a time little splash pool for babies but you can't let your child under 7 years old be in the splash pool unless you are within arm's reach of them. Can you say ridiculous? I can. We have had our children in swim lessons since they were infants. So my 5 year old can't play in a pool that goes up to her calves without me holding her hand? All I can guess is that they bought the cheapest insurance available and their crappy insurance company is who is forcing this policy. Issue #2: We have two daughters in swim lessons twice a week. Their lessons are spaced so that there is 30 minutes of downtime between each lesson. Even with the aforementioned policy, we were told that we have to buy an adult pass as well as a child pass to stand next to our daughter in the kiddie pool. So, while my 5 year old waits for her older sister to finish lessons (and to begin her own) I not only have to stand next to her in the kiddie pool but I have to pay $6 to wade my toes in the water. It's not like I can go swimming with the wristband they give me. It's a child's wristband that links you to your kid. Plus I have to be right next to her the whole time in the kiddie pool. Policy makers for this rec center (and maybe the others) didn't think this through. To finalize, we love this place but there needs to be some real world thought put into policy...

Dear Moorhead Recreation Center,

I am writing to express my concerns about the behavior of the pool manager, Taytum, and their treatment of the pool staff. I've been a regular at this pool for many years, and I've recently observed a pattern of disrespectful and dismissive behavior that I find quite troubling.

On several occasions, I've overheard Taytum speaking to the lifeguards and other staff in a condescending and belittling manner. Just last week, I witnessed Taytum scolding a young lifeguard in front of other patrons for a minor infraction. This kind of public reprimand is not only unprofessional but also creates a hostile work environment. The pool staff, particularly the young lifeguards, seem visibly demoralized. They appear hesitant and less attentive, which is a serious concern for the safety of everyone using the pool.

I believe it is crucial to address this issue promptly. A manager's behavior sets the tone for the entire facility, and when that behavior is disrespectful and demeaning, it affects everyone. I urge you to investigate these concerns and take appropriate action to ensure that Taytum treats their employees with the respect and dignity they deserve. A happy and well-treated staff is essential for a safe and enjoyable pool environment.

very disgusting environment to be in. i recently went to this rec center with my sister maybe a couple of weeks ago, when we both went into the gender neutral bathroom to fix her hair before heading home, and that’s when the second we entered the bathroom (not even had been in there for 15 seconds), we were greeted with loud continuous banging on the door & yelling from the outside. Upon open the door, i see a kind of short, big/stubby, latina, employee with dark brown hair and a grey jacket and she literally says to me and my BLOOD SISTER, “are you guys doing inappropriate stuff making out in there” and threatening to call security on us. Now mind you, I am a very masculine presenting female, and for her to right off the bat ask something like that felt very homophobic & maybe this rec center should reconsider hiring other people or maybe if you’re apart of the LGBT community don’t go here if you don’t want to...
