I want to start by saying that I think the front desk staff and techs here are wonderful and were nothing but kind in my interactions with them. My cat also saw Dr. Byman for a visit prior to my last and she was wonderful as well. The reason I leave the one star review is because I recently brought my cat in to see Dr. Brooke for mouth pain. He had been drooling a foul smelling drool, he yelped when you touched his lower jaw, he was hanging his mouth open, wouldn’t eat, would chatter his teeth, and his lower jaw was swollen. He presented with numerous clinical signs of a tooth abscess and was in very obvious discomfort. When I made my appt I stated all of these concerns and that I felt he was in pain. He had also gotten blood work a week prior at Crestview which showed he had very low WBC and neutrophils so I expressed I was concerned about infection since he didn’t have a very strong immune system (he is FeLV+). His kidney values were normal when this bloodwork was ran. My mother brought him to the appointment for me as I was working. Dr Brooke called me after examining him and stated that he didn’t feel he was in pain and that he had no signs of a tooth abscess. ??? He said that he thought this because most cats wouldn’t let him look in his mouth the way my cat did. I insisted that he’s an EXTREMELY tolerant cat and that shouldn’t be an indication that theres nothing wrong. He went on to explain that he thought he was drooling because he was nauseous and that he was worried that the problem was his kidneys. He didn’t want to give meloxicam because of this. He suggested a Cerenia injection, full body rads and additional bloodwork. I said OK to the cerenia and declined the rest. The next morning I took him to the shelter where I work and ran radiographs and more bloodwork. Unsurprisingly his kidneys were fine. The vet sedated him for his exam as he was in so much pain. His bottom jaw had mobility. Turns out he had tooth abscesses on his lower canines. Due to his FeLV status and weak immune system, the infection had caused a symphyseal fracture in his lower jaw. I called Crestview to politely let them know what we found and also asked for Dr Brooke’s exam notes from his previous visit (I wanted to know if he also appreciated a heart murmur on his exam wednesay night as he had one thursday morning). After more than a day later I finally got the notes. No heart murmur appreciated. Whether or not this was true and he had developed the murmur overnight or just another thing Dr. Brooke missed I cannot say for sure. Dr Brooke also called me himself. He explained to me that he’s “seen a lot of tooth abscesses and the two main things he looks for is mouth pain and jaw mobility and my cat had neither” Right. So both of those things just appeared overnight is what you’re saying? Yeah right. My roommates who have no veterinary medical experience whatsoever could tell he had mouth pain. He then attempted to give me more medical advice and suggested I discontinue the antibiotics his other vet had prescribed bc he had received convenia a week prior. Obviously the Convenia wasn’t cutting it. Obviously I did not take any more medical advice from him. My cat got MUCH better on the Clavamox + Buprenorphine that my vet at work prescribed. I am fortunate that I work in this field and had enough experience with veterinary medicine to advocate for my pet. I am also fortunate I was able to take him to my work as a last resort. I do not want this to happen to anyone else’s pets. In my opinion this was a really horrible mistake that would have been much worse had I not had other resources to turn to (which most people don’t). Again, I work in the field. I understand it was the end of the day. I understand that mistakes can happen. I understand that doctors are not perfect. But I would have preferred an apology and instead Dr Brooke only called me to defend himself and...
Read moreWonderful experience! My dog gets so crazy and is like a whole new dog when we go into the vet. They were so kind, even other pet owners in there were so kind. This is the first vet experience where I felt completely relaxed. They treated my pet lovely. Thank you Ashtin and Dr. Byman. My pup also loved the gentleman tech, I didn’t get his name but he was great too. Can’t wait to bring my other pup in.
Update: I really hate giving “bad” reviews but the first review was right after my first visit ever. I originally brought my pet in for a UTI issue. I was unsure what was going on with her because I didn’t have her results for two weeks. I called after a week and was told that the lab was down. I was frustrated but tried to be understanding, waited another week for her results and she needed another round of antibiotics since I was telling them she was still having some issues. I was told there was multiple types of bacteria found in her. We did the same antibiotics and she was still having issues. It was time for her vaccines so I scheduled her appointment and mentioned the urinary issues. I was told we can do another urinalysis on top of her exam and was told to give calming medications the night of and two hours before her appointment. I did it the night before, and the next morning my dog wasn’t responding at all at first. She was vomiting, not walking, I picked her up and put her down and she immediately fell down on the spot.. I called right away to tell them we weren’t going to be able to make it in. (She’s a super energetic pit) and the front desk reception didn’t even care. Not that I’m looking for pity, but it was a “okay I’ll cancel it for you” and hung up, after I just told her we were there the day before and the issues we were encountering. It took me days to consider to write this and reading other reviews. I’m highly disappointed, we had asu h a good...
Read moreI'm several months late on this but my Chihuahua Precious started to have health issues due to her heart murmur and getting into old age. I needed to find someone that could take her in quick as most places were unable to see her right away when her health issues began but also was looking for a place that had good reviews. Thankfully I found this place. It was a bit pricey but I was able to get approved from scratch pay being able to take my baby girl in every time I needed too. Everyone was very welcoming and caring towards each animal that entered making it feel comfortable every time I brought her in. It also helped seeing that everyone actually cared about the animals there and the veterinarian's were very knowledgeable and helpful. Unfortunately everything we did for her just got harder because her heart murmur became enlarged blocking her airway but one veterinarian recommended trying this flavor liquid medicine that could possibly help her heart get smaller but while it was in the process of being made from a third party she unfortunately passed away when we brought her in from collapsing on April 30 of this year. I was devistated and crying my heart out in the waiting room but each person that came in checking up on my family and I was very sympathetic and tried comforting us as best as they could. We ended up cremating her through this clinic. The next day one of the veterinarian's called me and gave her condolences and when we went to go pick up her ashes they also gave us a card signed by a lot of the workers there who remembered my sweet baby girl and how they loved when she came in. I really appreciated everything this place did for my sweet girl from the beginning to the very end. I highly recommend this...
