I've been coming to this location of Painting With a Twist for about 5 years now; I have to credit them for helping inspire me to begin painting on my own. Without them, I honestly don't think I could have ever overcome the block in my mind of "I could never create something like that!" I always have a wonderful time here and create beautiful pieces I feel proud to hang in my home.
With that said, I do want to offer some advice to management: while your instructors are always wonderfully friendly, welcoming and kind, lately I feel that they are trending more towards not-that-helpful, from a purely instructional standpoint. I've taken a couple of classes where I was able to keep up because I have some experience, but I could hear and feel the level of frustration and confusion in the room rise much more than normal.
I understand that this isn't completely up to the instructor, and no class with beginners is ever going to be totally free of frustration, but I do feel that "bedside manner," as it were, is something your instructors could collectively work on improving. I mention it because I know how vulnerable a person can feel when they try something they've never done before, and the instructor absolutely makes a HUGE difference as to whether they'll come back and try it again one day, or throw up their hands and say, "It's not for me!"
I hope that's helpful. I want to see this place thrive for years to come; I think it serves a much-needed socially...
Read moreI could not believe how poorly run this studio was. When my friends and I arrived, there were 3 employees standing around and NONE of them so much as smiled in our direction. Only one was busy helping another customer. Since we were first-timers and were unfamiliar with the check-in process, we weren’t sure what to do so we just stood there awkwardly waiting to be greeted. We were directed to 4 seats all in a row, and I thought that was not very conducive to our group being able to socialize and share drinks. I requested that we be seated across from eachother, and we managed to make that work with the cooperation of the party seated near us. The worst part was when the instructor began. She was very obviously drunk or high, and although we enjoyed laughing at her blunders, it was very difficult to follow her instructions, and her painting ended up looking nothing like the original. She could barely speak or walk, she kept disappearing for lengths of time, and she kept saying the wrong color when she instructed how to paint. It was extremely unprofessional and ridiculous. I could not believe I had paid so much for this experience. Update: The owner reached out to me immediately after I posted my review. He apologized and sent me a gift certificate for my friends and I to come back to the studio for a better experience. We have not yet been able to go back, but I will update again after our...
Read moreI had an amazing time at Painting with a Twist on Sunday, January 5, 2025, for the Celestial Tarot painting event! The experience was both fun and enlightening, and I couldn't have asked for a better instructor than Alexis. She was incredibly engaging and knowledgeable, guiding us through each step with ease.
Alexis created a relaxed and welcoming environment, making it easy for everyone, regardless of their skill level, to feel comfortable and confident with their painting. Her enthusiasm and attention to detail were truly infectious, and she made the whole process feel like a creative journey rather than just a class.
The studio had a great atmosphere, with plenty of space and a fun vibe. I loved how we were able to blend creativity with a little bit of mysticism, and the end result was a beautiful painting that I’m proud to display at home. I highly recommend this experience, especially if you’re looking to try something new, creative, and a little magical. I’ll definitely be coming back for...
