The absolute WORST customer service I have ever received.
Our refrigerator at home went out and we have a 6 month old baby so a working fridge is an obvious must have. I researched refrigerators in our area available for same day, in store pickup and there was none available except an hour away from our home at the Best Buy South Park Meadows location. The refrigerator I found online was out of box in “excellent” condition per their website.
We drove the hour with our baby to purchase it. The refrigerator was not on the floor so we asked an associate for assistance and she found the refrigerator in the back stock room. It was in horrible shape. It looked like someone took a hammer to it. It should have been thrown in the trash. I believe this is why it was in the stock room and not out on the floor. We were not going to purchase it because of the awful condition it was in, so we browsed for other options.
We settled on an out of box Kitchen Aide in great condition that was available to take home the same day and so we purchased it. Once payment was taken, the lady helping us told us they were going to box the fridge up and get it ready to load in our truck. She said it would take about 20 minutes and that we had time to look around the store.
As I was looking around, the Geek squad manager approached me and told me the refrigerator we just purchased had in fact been sold to somebody else that morning and they had forgotten to take it off the floor or mark it as “sold.”
We asked to buy a display refrigerator and explained our situation of not having a working fridge at home and that we needed one today due to the baby. He said he could not sell us a display due to their store policy. He offered to discount the one in the stock room that was in horrible shape. We told him no and that we would wait for the assistant manager on duty to return from his break so we could speak with him about other options. (The store’s general manager was not working this day.)
The assistant manager, Isaiah, came back from his break and my husband approached him to explain that they had just sold us a refrigerator that was actually purchased by another party that morning.
Isaiah never once apologized for the situation or the miscommunication ON THEIR PART. We asked him if we could buy a display since we needed it the same day and he said no. He gave us no other options and didn’t try to help us find a solution. He was stand offish and seemed like he could have cared less about this problem. He pawned us back on the cashier because he didn’t want to deal with us anymore.
Isaiah has zero customer service skills and is the reason we will never shop at Best Buy in the future.
We are very disappointed in how this was handled and hope nobody else has to go through this. Highly recommended avoiding...
Read moreI was looking for a micro HDMI cable to HDMI cable. I checked the website and they had it in stock. I high tail it up there, fighting 5 o'clock traffic. I go over to where they have HDMI cables for TVs. I did notice a sign that says, "If you have a question, ask a blue shirt." Ok kid in the blue shirt, do you have a micro HDMI cable to HDMI cable? The kid points me over to the printer section. Wait, this is a VIDEO connection, not a printer. He proceeds to tell me, "That is where we put all the weird cables at.". I go over to see if I can find what I am looking for, only to find they are picked over with lots of "Open Box" labeled cable boxes. You would think if it was an "Open Box", you might get some sort of discount because you are taking a chance that it was returned because it did not work. Nope, they are FULL priced. I left that department frustrated and empty handed.
I had planned to also pick up a micro 256 Gig SD Card. I did check in their SD Card section and did not see the one that Best Buy claims they had like the micro HDMI cable that would be "ready in an hour" if I ordered it online. I was not about to "ask a blue shirt" because I am sure I would have gotten the same "lazy response" I got the last time when I asked for the cable.
Come on Best Buy, you used to be the best place to buy anything related to media or entertainment. Now, I come in, you provide lousy service, claim you have what I need and it will be ready in 1 hour only to to find out that was a lie and I wasted my time driving up there. I ended up using their wifi, finding exactly what I needed on a "large" online retailer who said I will have it in 48 hours. I was willing to pay a few extra bucks for being able to get it right away. As I walk out, the young kid in glasses working the podium says, "Thank you sir." I pipe up, express my frustration. Did he EVEN try to make it right, maybe see if he could help me? Nope. He looks like at whatever he was looking at before and says, "Sorry" in a monotone voice. I guess I am better off buying stuff online instead of wasting my time at a big box retailer, who hires employees who...
Read moreWe went to this store in order to purchase a specifically purposed set of TV / headphone combos for my mother-in-law: a 45" TV that supported bluetooth, and a bluetooth headset to go along with it. At first there didn't seem to be any employees in the electronics area, so we wandered around a bit until we saw a QR code we were supposed to scan for help. I started that process and as I was doing it an employee showed up. We told him what we were looking for and he was extremely helpful, very knowledgeable, and he pointed us very quickly to the right TV, which turned out to be a Sony model. When it came to headsets, he told us he recommended Sony as well since they "were designed to work so well together." I mean, whatever, but I was putting this experience in his hands so I went with it. He said the headset wasn't available today, it would have to be ordered, so we said we'd just order one online from Amazon. As we moved up to check out, suddenly he discovered that they did indeed have the headset! He brought it out and sold us both items. Not cheap! But available immediately. Got home, set up the TV, easy-peasy. Started setting up the headset and...it wasn't a bluetooth headset. It had a base that had to be plugged into an audio jack on the TV...that this TV didn't have. We had to take the headset back the next day, and not only did the employee (who it seems from his nametag was actually the general manager of the store!) not seem embarrassed at having sold us something that wouldn't work (and wasn't bluetooth at all, which we had specified!) he instead tried to upsell us on something else! My point here is, though it might be nice to just blindly trust the sales people to help you, there are other motives at work and you can't rely upon it unless you want to spend way too much and ultimately not get what you want. Carefully examine your items and come in with a specific goal in mind...or, order...
