Pokemaniacs — Attraction in Austin

I think there's a lot from the bad reviews that isn't true but something's are justified. The store has a great selection of current sets and the store is very nice. I'll also say that the people who work there have always been very nice and polite. I've never seen them interact negatively with customers.

All that said, the reviews about prices are somewhat justified. Japanese booster boxes were more than 25-30% over market. English ETBs were reasonably priced for the most part with most between 55-70$. In this market it's hard to find pretty much anything, so if they have what you're looking for the slight mark up might be justified.

Lastly trading. I came in to see what I could get for an Umbreon alt art 189/203 and I found their offer pretty fair. 210$ for the card. Last two sells were 230$-260$ so I think their offer was fair. A note here, their offers are for store credit not cash. So you will lose some on the card and have to buy product that is slightly marked up on top of it. All in all, I couldn't justify the trade. But for the right situation I could see it being worth it to a lot of people.

This store is probably the worst place I've seen to buy or sell your pokemon goods. Not only are they extremely overpriced on every single thing in the store, especially with ETB's being double retail price. Also the worst part, I undoubtedly believe they weigh their packs before putting them on the shelves. The pull packs they pull out of ETB's and booster boxes and than put them on display and they don't put more out until the owner comes to do so. I asked what they buy at percentage wise and none of the employees can answer the question. "It's up to the owner and it's based off the price of the card" well duh but they sell the cards themselves for far beyond what they are actually worth. It's terrible, highly highly do not recommend ypu go here if your looking to boost your collection. I get so much better pulls buying from the local gamestop. They might have there ETB's at 50 and that's fine for most but a Paldean Fates ETB was $89! At pokemaniacs. I bought 18 paldean fates singles, I got 3 wugtrios, the lack of good pulls from this store is phenomenal. I've spent alot of money and bought a lot of packs...

If you wanna get ripped off…. This is the place to go. Zero stars if I could, and will NEVER return to this store or their sister store, Press Play, because I don’t want the owner (owns both stores) to get any of my money. Way overpriced Pokémon items, compared to market value! Not to mention absolutely atrocious customer service. They not only did not completely answer my questions, but instead made up there own answers which made no sense. Add to which, blatantly lying about price increases and when they occurred. I was spoken to like a child about Pokémon items that made no logical sense as to why they were priced the way that they were. I understand supply and demand, but this is just robbery! If you want to save some of your hard earned money, go somewhere else. There are many more reputable places to get your stuff and not feel like you are being taken advantage of and offer much more...
