Horrible Customer Service at Kiosk I recommend going to a different submarine tour

I travelled to Avalon on 06/30/2021 with my partner, who decided to surprise me for my birthday (06/30) with a submarine tour. I was worried, because we already had a packed day and this tour made the day even more jammed packed. He bought the ticket morning of (I was on a different boat) for 06/30 3pm tour. Needless to say we (he was at the submarine) didn't make it on time because I was waiting for our lunch. He attempted to get a refund, which of course was denied due to your policy. I attempted not long afterwards, I thought perhaps the person at the kiosk would have some sort of sympathy since it was my birthday (ID at hand).

I don't believe I will get a refund, but I wanted to complain about the person running your kiosk. Sympathy was far from what I received, I understand policy, I work for a government agency and it involves following strict laws, what I don't understand is someone having a cold heart and horrible customer services. The woman at the kiosk was beyond rude. Again, I understand explaining that a refund cannot be given due to company policy, but she had the audacity to say that my partner "needs to get me another birthday present" because the submarine left literally one minute before I arrived. I could not believe that she would say that. That is her opinion and has nothing to do with my request for a refund. This was negativity that was unnecessary and I hope that there are some repercussions. If she did this to me, who's to say that she isn't doing it to others.

The older white woman at the kiosk was there on 06/30/2021 during the 3...

Date and Time: 8/31 around 5 PM

Affordability The price of the experience was a bit on the higher side, but I would definitely say it was worth it because you got to see different types of fish. Overall, it lasted 35-40 minutes.

Ride Experience The seating was good because they don’t pack you in closely. I went with my partner, and it felt like there was enough room to comfortably enjoy the experience. I will say that if you are claustrophobic, you should be aware that you will be down there for 35-40 minutes. The good thing is that it doesn’t fully submerge you.

Wait Time The wait time was also pretty short, roughly 10-15 minutes, which was perfect because you get to enjoy a beautiful view of the ocean.

Customer Service I personally did not have a great experience during the ride because an older white worker made an odd comment about me in front of both myself and my partner (“as a joke”). I’m unsure if it was targeted towards my appearance or race (he didn’t make similar remarks to other customer). My partner laughed to quickly dismiss the awkward situation, but we were both left perplexed. We didn’t want to cause a scene because it was so out of left field. I tried my best to hide my confusion and anger & ignore him when I left the submarine. If you can go on the ride without him, then you’ll...

05 April 2023 - 4 Stars Had an enjoyable trip on the Semi-Submersable submarine. The water around this area was clear, and plenty of BAITED fish were visible. Having done a tropical SUBMARINE DEEP DIVE in Hawaii, I missed the variety and color of the visible fish. Seeing baited fish fight over the food was dramatic, but not natural.

The tour gave us a true view of the fish and a few other animals in this area. The staff can't create colorful fish to be seen (this is not a tropical area), so I'm not too surprised by this.

The grandkids (and all the kids on the tour) enjoyed the Sub trip very much. They loved all the fish and looking out the underwater windows. There was plenty of room at each window for each passenger to view outside. NOTE: The Hawaiian Sub trip did NOT have as good passenger to window viewing ability.

It was fun riding on the deck of the submarine, back to the dock, from the marine reserve we toured.

This is a good experience for those who have not done this sort of...

Fun and relaxing ride in a semi-submersible through the protected waters of Catalina. The sub is climate controlled and each individual seat has its own port hole for viewing. Since you're only traveling about five feet below the surface, there is never a sense of feeling confined. Here your voyage will include the state fish, Garibaldi, and other sea life like urchins, bat Ray's and spotted calico bass among others. The fish are rather tame and used to being fed when they see the sub, so although they are living in a natural environment their behavior is somewhat different than what you would encounter in the open ocean. These fish are protected. Diving, snorkeling, swimming and fishing are prohibited in this area. During the last 10 minutes you are invited up top for viewing. Sometimes you will see sea lions jumping around the port.
