The Snug Harbor Inn was a perfect landing spot for a mid-week getaway. From the first moments, Juan went out of his way to welcome us. Doing the Midweek Stay with the Catalina Express, we arrived on the island around 11:00 AM. It was great to be able to check in when we arrived and settle our bags into the room. Juan went to the room, started the fireplace, put music on the TV and carried our bags into the space. The room was clean and cozy and well appointed with a nautical, Cape Cod theme. The room comes with Snug Harbor slippers, eye mask, and ear plugs, as well as a white noise machine. The fireplace was a nice option. The bed was really comfortable with comfortable pillows and a warm down comforter. Good sized bathroom with a jetted tub. The service throughout the stay was stellar. We selected a time for breakfast to be delivered and they delivered a basket of breakfast both mornings. Alex offered to set it up and expertly placed everything on the table. The loaf of bread each morning was wonderful, cranberry orange the first morning and blueberry the second. A large serving of granola with yogurt, fresh fruit, orange juice and delicious coffee more than filled us up to start the day. Each afternoon, they deliver a tray of cheese, crackers, caprese skewers, and salami and your choice of sparkling apple juice, red, white, or rose wine. Alex, Alex, and Juan were wonderful throughout our stay, welcoming, thoughtful, and attentive. Alex brought breakfast both mornings, checked in on our plans for the day, and offered suggestions on possible activities and restaurants. He checked in regarding turning over the room around our schedule. The inn is really quiet, you cannot even tell if there are others staying there. They have a DVD/Blu-ray library, but make sure to check out a movie before the staff move to their other location (Vista Del Mar) in the evening. It was also great to be able to store luggage at the Inn on the last day after checking out and be able to swing by and pick it up before heading to the ferry. The Inn is nicely located with views of the harbor and a short walk to the ferry station. Definitely recommend staying here.

Snug Harbor is a slice of heaven on Avalon! We stayed for 2 nights in the Anacapa room. Clean, roomy, and a charming decor. All the staff were over accommodating, professional and friendly. The breakfasts were tasty and filling and the afternoon snacks with wine made us feel important as most B&B’s don’t offer this service. On the morning of our last day, a staff member announced that the Catalina Express boats have been cancelled due to high winds and he welcomed us to stay the extra night at a 50% discount. We walked to the Catalina office and booked our return to San Pedro for the following morning. We had our room key reissued so we would have access for the rest of our stay. Service at every level was professional and impeccable…will definitely be staying here again if it’s just me and hubby. These 6 rooms can only accommodate 2 adults. The location is perfect too!!

My fiancée and I stayed here for the weekend while we were in town for a wedding. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed our stay at Snug Harbor Inn. My first time in Avalon, so it was perfectly located to where we could walk to everything we needed within a few minutes. The hospitality was great from the moment we walked in. We really loved the afternoon wine and charcuterie board as well as the complimentary breakfast in the morning. Most of my friends stayed at other hotels and were very jealous of our location, the amount of space we had, and the complimentary services received. The space is a little older than a newer hotel down the street, but I would stay here again next time for sure. Fantastic all around!

WOULD NOT STAY HERE AGAIN OR RECOMMEND TO ANYONE.

My boyfriend and I were trying to have a nice relaxing romantic trip. Instead, we wasted our money and had a really bad experience.

We booked the romance package in the San Nicolas room, which is more expensive because of the view. The only thing that makes the romance package unique is there should be a bottle of champagne upon your arrival. We arrived around 9 am and our room was ready which was nice. The room is very small and the bathroom even smaller. The view of the main street and water is nice and we really enjoyed the fireplace. We asked the manager about our champagne and he said he would have it delivered when we returned from going out. So we went out and came back at 5 pm for the wine and hor d’oeuvres. Before this was delivered I tried to take a quick shower, but the water came out like a pathetic dribble. We had to get someone to fix it, which fortunately they were able to do quickly, but I was already not getting the luxury feel. The plate of hor d’oeuvres was pathetic. I was expecting at least brie cheese, but instead it was triangle slices of Colby jack, Swiss, and pepper jack as if they were from packages bought from the grocery store. It also included some Ritz crackers, grapes, a bowl of hummus, a bowl of nuts, some pieces of salami, and a few tomato/mozzarella skewers. Later we went out again for dinner and upon returning expected to take a bath in the “luxury deep tub”, drink our champagne, and watch a DVD that they advertised in the package as having “unlimited DVD usage”. Just after 9 pm we begin looking through the DVD options only to find they are all empty. You have to check them out, but there was no one working anymore! The front desk closed at 6. You could call their sister hotel until 9 if you needed something, but after 9 it was emergencies only. I thought we were staying at a hotel only to find out if we need anything we’re on our own. No movie for us then. Next: bath. The jetted deep tub was nice, but at one point we turned off the jets and tried to turn them back on and the button wouldn’t work and then the whole button came loose out of the tub. Definitely not feeling luxury or worth $600. Also at this time, no one ever made up or turned down our bed. The plate from wine/cheese was still in the room.

In the morning breakfast was delivered right at the time we chose, and the yogurt/granola and fresh banana bread were nice. Unfortunately the meal takes up the only table in the room and no one comes to clear it away later, and it’s not on a cart you can just roll out. We inquired about our champagne bottle again and complained about having no notice that no one would be working there after 6 pm when we were checking out at 11. The only response we got from management was that we could drink the bottle in the public lounge or take it to go. What a joke. Later the manager who we had talked to the day before and said the champagne would be in our room told us he refund us a whole $20 for the bottle if we didn’t want to take it with us.

I’m very disappointed with this experience. When you see on Google that it’s a 2 star hotel...

Catch me snuggled up at the Snug Harbor Inn any time we go to Catalina! I have stayed in about 5 different places throughout my journeys to Catalina and this one by far is my favorite. My boyfriend and I spent my birthday weekend on the island and we adored our stay at Snug Harbor. We stayed in the Santa Cruz room. The daily complimentary breakfast is not only adorable, but also delicious! It’s the perfect breakfast to share before taking off to explore the island. I took a bath during our afternoon snack and wine/champagne time. One thing I love about the new ownership and staff at this inn, is that they truly care about your time spent under their care and they are always ready to take your experience and suggestions to continue to make yours and all other guests time there special. I am a huge fan of the ice and filtered water machine. It’s SO nice to be able to get free water and ice within where you stay instead of taking trips to the corner store or trying to keep ice cold on vacation. They even have snug harbor inn water bottles there for you. The rooms are beautiful. The storage is amazing for a 6 room inn. You can even store your bags in their closet by the reception desk until you depart from the island. And the location is perfect. You have the delicious pizza right next door at Antonio’s. The store is right on the corner if you do need anything in a pinch. There’s a shop with comfy sweaters right across the walkway that stays open later than usual. I cannot stress enough how sweet and helpful their staff is. This inn breathes out a simple and yet luxurious atmosphere. It’s cute. It’s quaint. It’s modernized. After reading some of the reviews on here, we do not have any noise issues with the Chichi club once we shut our windows to go to sleep. We even walked in there to have a beer and play some pool before we went back to our room. All in all, I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I’ll definitely be recommending Snug Harbor Inn to my friends and family. We already can’t wait...
