I had a wonderful stay at the Seacrest Inn. The property is very clean, well-maintained, and offers great customer service. Amber at the front desk was amazing—so nice and helpful! Before my trip, she emailed me about check-in and check-out times, asked when my boat would arrive, and let me know I could check in early if the room was available. If not, she said I could store my luggage and explore the island in the meantime. My room ended up being ready around noon and she texted me to let me know—super thoughtful and convenient! The location is good, though not right on the beach like some other hotels. It’s about a block inland, still close to the restaurants and shops. Because it’s in the main part of town, there is some street noise from people and golf carts, but it wasn’t a deal-breaker for me. Once I turned on the heater at night, the white noise masked most of it, and I slept fine. They also provide earplugs, which is a nice touch for light sleepers. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable, which was perfect for my stay. One of the charming features of this hotel is its themed rooms. They’re tastefully done—not over the top. I stayed in the Mermaid Room, which is painted blue and white with wood accents and has a cute stained-glass window with a mermaid. My dad stayed in the Dolphin Room, which had decorative dolphin tiles on the door—little touches that made the rooms feel unique. The common areas also have unique artistic touches. The main hallway and staircase feature a textured oil painting of an ocean scene, complete with California’s state fish, the garibaldi (Gary). It’s a lovely nod to the island’s natural beauty, where you can spot plenty of garibaldi while snorkeling or boating. The bathroom is small and might be tricky for larger guests. The toilet is very small and low to the ground, which is typical of older Catalina buildings. The toilet is very close to the shower, which is also quite compact. I didn’t mind, but anyone bigger than me might find it uncomfortable. For reference, I’m 5’6" The shower head is quite short —around my eye level—but the water pressure was fine, and the temperature was consistent. The hotel provides some basic toiletries, including small bars of soap and shampoo/conditioner. The bars of soap are individually packaged, both for the sink and the shower, which I appreciated. However, the shampoo and conditioner are not individually sealed, which could be a concern for some guests. I’m always cautious about potential product tampering and even just the lack of ingredient information, so I’d recommend bringing your own if that's a concern or if you have sensitive skin or allergies. The hotel also offers some shared spaces for guests. There’s a small patio area with tables and chairs outside my cluster of rooms, as well as a rooftop deck and a patio/grill area. These spaces are great for relaxing or socializing, though they do close at 10 p.m. to be respectful of nearby rooms. Another unique perk: the hotel has an arrangement with a local restaurant where you can order fresh seafood or meat, and they’ll deliver it directly to the hotel. You can then grill it on the rooftop deck with friends, avoiding the crowds of tourists at restaurants. It’s a great way to enjoy a delicious, fresh meal in a more relaxed and personal setting. The best part? The hotel is very reasonably priced, making it a much better deal compared to some other options on the island. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for its cleanliness, comfort, charm, and...
Read moreThe Seacrest Inn is one block off of the main Avalon beach/drag, perfect location. Really in the middle of everything; I don't think any hotel is better situated.||||Each room has a completely different vibe to it. It's a small place, perhaps eight rooms, each with their own door to the outside. Everything you need is provided, and everything worked. The room even has a mini-fridge and I think it had a microwave. Plenty of space, but at least ours had a strange layout - smallish bed, long hallway, no desk - but nice and didn't feel cramped at all.||||We were able to drop off our bags and even change in the "second office/storeroom" well before check-in. It looked like they even have towels you can borrow for the beach/diving; we'd brought our own and droppped by AFTER our dive, so it wasn't an issue for us, but was a nice touch.||||Check-in doesn't start until 3pm, and our room wasn't available until nearly then anyhow, but the clerk was leaving at 4pm... which was a pretty narrow window when you're doing multi-hour activities like scuba or zip lining. Communication was excellent though - she both phoned and texted status regularly. (We couldn't get them, neither underwater nor while zip-lining, but that wasn't her fault. ;) )||||Right outside our front door were a pair of tables, each with a pair of chairs, essentially on the "deck" although really it's the walkway entrance to several rooms. Nice touch. ||||Our upstairs neighbors were partying into the night, which is reasonable for Catalina, but was very audible. On the flip side, the hotel actually provided packaged ear plugs on the night-stand, so they did deal with it; we just aren't used to ear plugs.||||I would not hesistate to...

We were lucky enough to find a last-minute opening at the Seacrest Inn in Avalon, and now we completely understand why they’re booked out so often—it’s not just the charming inn, it’s Michael and Amber who make the entire experience unforgettable.
From the moment we arrived, they went above and beyond. They graciously allowed us to drop off our bags early so we could start exploring town without delay. After check-out, they offered to store our luggage, making it easy to enjoy every last moment of our trip without worry.
There were some minor hiccups with the internet, but it’s important to note that these were issues with the service provider, not the hotel. What really stood out was how diligent and proactive both Michael and Amber were in troubleshooting and offering alternatives. Their care and attention to detail didn’t go unnoticed.
What truly made the experience exceptional was their local knowledge and sincere hospitality. They pointed us toward the best rental deals, showed us where to go during the busiest parts of the day, and helped us navigate all the must-see spots around Avalon. Their recommendations made our trip feel curated and personal.
The Seacrest Inn itself is a charming place to stay—cozy, welcoming, and with a personality that perfectly matches the spirit of Catalina. But it’s the people who run it that elevate it to something truly special. Michael and Amber are absolute treasures, and it’s clear they care deeply about every guest’s experience.
