City of Avalon Harbor Department — Attraction in Avalon

We traveled up from Oceanside to fish Catalina Island and ran into some problems with our boat. We ended up spending the night out there and ended up getting towed back to Oceanside marina. I just want to say the Harbor Master in Avalon was awesome as well as the harbor patrol people they were super helpful! It's not a bad place to get stuck for a night or 2. I just want to let them know there doing a killer job out there! so, if ya have any problems or need mooring out there don't be afraid to ask the Harbor Master very nice, super helpful and can get you pointed in the right direction if ya have any issues if your headed that way. Have not taken my boat to Avalon in over ten years so called Harbor Master and spoke to very pleasant and helpful person Cheryl. I was concerned about getting a mooring in Avalon over a weekend in October she told me that the Jazz Trax was on and it would be busy. I hung up a little disappointed. Then she called me back; she actually took the time to call me!!! The Harbor Master!!!! She told me she was mistaken and that Jaz Traz was later in the month. I had hope. Santa Catalina Island has so much to offer that it is like a little paradise where you never want to leave. All people working at the restaurants and stores are SUPER friendly, always welcoming with a warm smile. It is a bit expensive, especially the food, but it is well worth it.
