I am a very avid purchaser and collector of U.S. gold and silver coins, which POG Auctions usually have at least a few of nearly, if not every auction. In what I can only assume as being done in an attempt to bring their seller's more money, they purposely, and obviously with "less than honorable" intentions, edit the photos of only their consigned coins, to the point that the colors, contrast, and sharpness make it entirely impossible to make out critical aspects of a coin that anyone purchasing them for more than essentially the metal melt value, depend on in order to be willing to pay top dollar for the coins. This tactic very well may occasionally trick a novice buyer into paying an extra $5-$10 dollars here and there for low end condition coins, but it also guarantees that every higher end coin will never see top dollar because the only buyers willing to spend in that range, are informed enough to know that every aspect of a coin that justifies those prices, are being hidden in photo editing. Can't decipher if the coin has been cleaned, has heavy scratches, is a circulated or uncirculated example, if uncirculated, what grade it would warrant (one grade point on top end condition coins can equal hundreds of thousands of dollars), if the coin has natural or unnatural toning, and the list goes on. As a result, we have to assume the worse. My point is, in the long run, I truly believe 100% it loses them money, and for a practice that's deceitful in nature, it just erodes faith a company as a buyer. I will say, however, in every other aspect, they're exactly what you want— they use card on file with Hibid as they should, they go ahead and add in the shipping costs when they do it (which aren't excessive), they package the items safely, and ship them out quickly. It's a 5 star company outside of the decision to try and "get over" on coin buyers. If they ever stop doing it, I'll gladly delete this. Until then, it's an auction that is manipulative and dishonest in at least one aspect of how they do business, but that excells in the aspects that they are not...
Read moreSelling through this place went poorly. The price won in the auction was less than stellar. After the auction ended I was still waiting after a week and I had gotten no info, no confirmation, no email, no letter, co call. I called to ask “What is the next step” and some nasty woman said “Well I guess you wait for a check to come in the mail?” in a question tone before bursting into laughter! I paused, rather surprised, and asked if I could pick it up and if it was mailed yet, but she “Was not privy to that info” as she put it. I emailed to ask the person who handles the auctions because the nasty, nasty woman knew nothing and burst into laughter at my seemingly reasonable question. She again answered back the email and said “I’m sorry if you think I was laughing” and I never heard back from the person who handles the auctions.
Well, I’m sorry I got stuck with this place to sell my estate items. If you want to wait 9 months for your auction, get no confirmation if and how the sale ended, get laughed in your face for even asking, and eventually get a check for a very meager sum, then this is the place for you! I, however, will never use their service again and I wish...
Read moreStay away from this place! Dan did not tell us details of what it might cost us to have him sell our items--like cost of movers, plus his percentage, or what percentage we might get. He made all of the arrangements for dining, kitchen, living room, bedroom, and much more to be moved. The large items were sold for $1555.00. Movers charged $870.00, Dan made $544.25, and WE MADE $140.75!!! We made 9.3 percent of total sale--we totally got ripped off. We could have made a lot more with a yard sale! Zero stars--not even one! Update and followup 5/28/2021 Again, do not do any business with these people! Besides what I already posted above, several items were sold on "general auction". Dan sent us an additional check for $220.35 but with no explanation of what items were sold or not. HERE IS THE FROSTING ON THE CAKE! The check that he sent was not good, Desert Financial would not cash it. So we had to rip it up and send a picture of the ripped check PLUS wait a week before they issued/mailed us a new check. Sorry we did business with Dan and sorry for the one star--he gets a double...
