Read moreI am currently on train no#80 heading north. I've had the worst experience riding the train North and South. Most of the crew are nasty and unhelpful! First, I explained to the Conductor when I got on at Durham, NC that I'm disabled, although I do not have the disabilities that are listed on their site, which is blindness, deafness and being confined to a wheelchair, but he was nasty and told me to take the seat behind the seats available for Persons with Disabilities. I asked him if I could sit there until someone got on with a wheelchair. He said, "NO!" So, I had to call Amtrak and speak to someone about what my disabilities are, and they noted on my account. Firstly, these seats are available ANYONE. The sign Stat you might be asked to move if a person who is disavowed gets on. See pic below. The next thing: THE BATHROOMS! The Attendants are not staying on top of cleaning them! They go in and spray the cleaner and leave. Toilets became stopped up several times I hadn't taken the train in years, and I planned to do work on my labtoo, but after all these things and frustrations, my time was little. Their commercial gives a false impression of a "relaxing trip," and most of the employees act like they're doing you a favor and that you didn't pay for your ticket! I will NOT be riding on Amtrak again!! Look at how they expect paying customers to use the bathroon, and see how their employees sit back...
Read moreI was at the station for an early morning train ride and the signs were not operating at the time. Unfortunately, it was very difficult to understand the person who was making announcements as well. I knew that my train was arriving soon, but without signs, I didn't know where to go. I saw some passengers who were coming thru the door after getting off a train, so I asked them what train they were on. They stated that they were on the train I needed to be on. I had to wait to go down the stairs because there were so many people coming up. Once they cleared, I headed down, but the train was leaving. I had to wait for the next train, which was scheduled for 10 hours later. I am still giving a 4 star review because of the awesome customer service I received from the ticket agent and baggage claim attendant, and overall cleanliness of the station. I also heard multiple announcements for the trains throughout the day, that were clear and often repeated. I'm almost certain that this was because of my situation...and the signs were also working by the time I departed...
