I went to this restaurant intending to get a brunch special as advertised for restaurant week (see picture). When asked how I wanted my eggs, I told the cashier that I wanted egg whites. I was told that this was not possible. This was an immediate red flag for me. Your restaurant prides itself on "freshly cracked, made to order eggs". If the eggs are freshly cracked, there is no reason you should not be able to do a simple order of scrambled egg whites. It all made me suspect that this restaurant does not use fresh eggs at all, and perhaps they use a pre-made egg mix. Your restaurant has the word "egg" in it's name and does not serve egg whites. I would recommend you all start serving egg whites, even if it is at an upcharge. I would pay an extra buck or two.
Anyway, I was no longer interested in an egg meal of any kind. I ended up ordering pancakes, fried dark meat, and a side of .ac and cheese. I wanted to taste a bit of everything. The person who took my order at the register was also the one who prepared my food, I could see it happening. I also saw her sit down and start eating. I am not sure if she was on break or what, but it did not make me feel good that the same person rang up my food, then cooked the food, then sat down and ate in the same area she was serving my food from. It seemed unsanitary and unprofessional. Other than than this, the restaurant is really cute on the inside, very spacious and has a cute farmhouse decor.
I had really high hopes for the chicken here based on other reviews, and based on the restaurant name. I expected this chicken to be epic and top-notch. For me, the chicken had great texture but was salty for me to eat, and it had a strange tangy flavor. It also looked like it had been sitting for a while, like it was not made freshly. I will say the pancakes were excellent. The mac and cheese was good; creamy, rich and soft.
Overall, if you ever go to the Chicken or the Egg, just know that the Chicken is not fresh and may be a bit tangy/salty for you, while the integrity of the eggs is...
Read moreSo I visited my old law school to find a case, and I thought I would get a quick bite before I left the neighborhood. Starbucks, Chipolte, Subway all beckomed, but I am a spend local kind of guy so I chose The Chicken or the Egg. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, and ham, a standard breakfast menu item offered at $4.59. No problem until i said "no bread". "Oh, I have to charge differently for no bread." He rang it up as some ikind of an egg platter and raised the price to $8.20. I ordered no drink because with the new and improved price, I could not afford it without breaking a hundred, which I did not want to do. "Do you want a drink?" "No thanks," says I. "Not even water?" "OK ice water." Out comes a clear plain water glass, and the check went up to $9.70. I was so angry I lost my appetite, paid the exorbitant check, and left. If you visit, make certain you ask the price of items (in writing if possible) in advance, as the cashier baited and switched me on the only two items I purchased, So it was not random errors, IMHO. I shall not return there and I advise all within my influence to skip The Chicken and the Egg and visit Starbucks or Subway or some other place with fixed prices instead,...

I called and he says it wasn't their. I further tried to explain that is was! He then rudely says well call door dash and they will takecare of it and says bye and hangs up in my face. The Fried Deviled Eggs it says 2 per order. I would like that 2 whole eggs for $4 it's actually 1 egg cut in half! I won't be ordering from them anymore!

He says ok as if he doesn't care. I will be speaking with the owner Mark Cohen. Baby they got...
