Fascinating and educational. It was amazing the artistic things they turned out of garbage that washed up on our beaches. I have visited This Place several times, but never saw the map of where a lot of it forms in different areas of the ocean and the currents that form these areas. It was really frightening to see how it endangers not only the sea life but ships as well, forming not only on the bottom of the ocean, but on top and suspending downward. It was also good to realize it's not all oregonians creating this mess, so much of it comes from...

My husband and I were driving home from Gold beach and looking for something interesting to do on the way home and I found this place. Let me tell you this was right up our alley. If you are anywhere near this area it is a must stop, they have an indoor seafood market, a coffee shop, spices from local places and a farmers market (that day was plant starts) The main reason we stopped was to see the art work and it was beyond amazing!! All the sculptures are made out of the plastic that has been washed ashore. Just don't...

This is a small but eye opening, even disturbing. museum where the exhibits and sculptures are fashioned out of litter including, but not limited to, junk collected from beaches and the ocean such as bottles and plastic. Pay a visit. Then (a) enjoy the art, But then (b) note the amount of trash and junk collected and (c) reflect on how, from this evidence. we human beings are fouling the nest in a huge way which has to change and fast. Come in America. Wake up to the...

This unique art exhibit is free to visit. They take trash found all around Oregon's coast and recycle it into art. Its "sadly beautiful". There are signs for each of the pieces to raise awareness on how individual species are affected by the trash in the sea. It's all done though volunteer work and you can help them by creating pieces for their next exhibit. A great place to take kids for the interaction and education.

I love Washed Ashore's mission to draw attention the plight of trashed beaches through their amazing sea life sculptures made completely from plastics picked up from beaches. I stop in regularly to check out the latest sculptures, and help out sorting plastic for the next project. And it's always at the top of our must-see list when we have guests in town.
