I've never seen a hotel go so far out of its way to paint lame as classy. They may have put a bunch of money into a remodel, but they're cheapskates in all the wrong places. This place is nothing more than a roadside motel with a new paint job and is managed unprofessionally. ||Check in is an obnoxiously long process. You have to give the front desk attendant ALL of your personal information while she manually enters it into a computer, despite already having provided all of it to make the booking online. This includes your driver's license, license plate, and registration on your vehicle. They claim this is a "State Law" - curious because we stayed in Oregon for eight nights on this trip in a different hotel every night and never had to give out this information at a single other place we stayed. Entire process took well over 20 minutes while multiple people were standing in line to endure the same experience. Unforced error #1. ||During check in, you also have to fill out a full-page questionnaire on what you want for breakfast and what time you want to pick it up (sounds like it would be nice, right?), only to get a bag of bagels, yogurt, instant oatmeal, and other garbage you could have bought at a gas station. Unforced error #2.||The buildings have three stories and no elevator, which they don't bother to mention to you or ask about during check in. This would have been particularly important considering I happened to be recovering from a torn bicep at the time of our stay. The building they put us in has ground level access to either the first or the third floor (built into a hill), so you're stuck lugging your bags either up a flight of stairs or down one if you happen to be on the second floor. Great time considering my recent surgery, but it wouldn't have been an issue had they bothered to mention the configuration or asked if we had an issue with our luggage and stairs. Unforced error #3 and possible noncompliance with the ADA Act.||We then got to the room, which was over 80 degrees and approximately 100 humidity with no way to move air to ventilate. When we called the front desk to ask for assistance, the only response we received was "there is no air conditioning". No I'm sorry, no oh can I get you a fan or do something to make your stay more comfortable. Not even an acknowledgement that it's unacceptable to check a guest into a room in that condition. We tried leaving the back door open to cool the room down, but were treated to the symphony of two crackheads yelling at one another for over an hour before giving up. Unforced errors #4 & 5 or whatever we're up to by now. ||Bottom line, it doesn't matter why there are no elevators or air conditioning, or why they don't even have fans to lend out for that matter. The fact is this ownership is chintzy for no reason in providing such awful amenities as their laughable "breakfast" and the management they have in place are down right negligent at mitigating any shortcomings the property itself may have or making a guest's stay as comfortable as possible, which really is the core of their job. I'd recommend you move on from this place if you're looking at...
ย ย ย Read moreA GREAT Place to stay near the Historic Bandon Downtown!!! This is a GREAT place to stay. We stayed on the 3rd floor in the East building (not the best choice if one has knee issues like I do, but..my fault for not asking in advance for a room with less stairs). The room was clean, sufficiently spacious and had the requisite mini-fridge and microwave. There's a small round table with two chairs over by the sliding window/balcony that can be set up to watch night creep across the bay/old town view. The view is - quite simply - one of the best you can find in any lodging accommodation in Bandon. The bed is just a bit on the soft side (not a problem for us, but YMMV if you don't like a soft mattress). The WiFi is actually an easy connection, despite some potentially confusing screens that make you say "WTH, didn't I just do that" (just keep clicking and it will all work out). The WiFi didn't seem all that speedy in our room, BUT if you are one of those unlimited data phone contract types, the in-room cell phone reception is 5G, so there is a Plan B available. (Pro Type for the TV directory (which I could ever figure out on the TV) use TVPassport.com searching for Bandon Oregon and selecting Spectrum Coos Bay area Digital)...
The staff members were absolutely Rock Stars, attending to our check-in, gift store purchases, and an unfortunate room key failure during our stay with humor and attention to our personal needs that was top notch!!!
A "grab and go" breakfast was available during our stay, along with coffee and "machine" (for lack of a better term) specialty hot drinks. It's free and an OK choice if you are headed out the door to enjoy the Bandon world (you order the breakfast the night before so you can specify your choices). If, on the other hand, you are thinking about major chain free breakfast options, this isn't it. This isn't a criticism of the Bandon Inn offering (because it worked for us), but rather a warning to those who are used to the big chain hotel free breakfast scenes...
The one criticism I might have is the the lack of hanger/hooks in the closet and the bathroom. The closet area is really convenient with several cubbies to store things. but we were needing to multi-hang coats and clothes on the few hangers available. The bathroom is really nice...but...Closed Circuit Communication to the Bandon Inn Gang....a hanger or two in the bathroom for clothes or towels would be nice...just sayin'....
..and, maintenance gang...you might want to look at the balcony sliding door in East Building Room 37....it's a 2-person job to close it...
ย ย ย Read moreI am currently staying in 206. I made reservations through โPricelineโ, they obviously do not update amenities and services. Upon an 8 hour drive we arrive 40 minutes after check-in. We were given key cards and asked to settle the bill for a two night stay without even seeing the rooms first. When we hauled our luggage to second floor (no elevator on site) the door was ajar and two housekeepers were unaware that I was checking in and room had not been turned over. We complained at the front desk, put everything back in our car, and went to dinner. I felt bad for the two housekeepers who looked overworked and stressed out. One of them who looked like she was carrying her things- ready to go home, said โIll start cleaning right nowโ. The front desk manager told us it will only take โ15 minutes to cleanโ. I told him I own a cleaning business and it better not take her ONLY 15 minutes to clean the room and master bathroom. Another lady corrected him and assured me it will take longer. We left and went to dinner. Nothing was done to compensate our inconvenience. Another disappointing factor was the complimentary breakfast handbagโฆ literally cereal and yogurt. Mind you, we still paid premium prices to stay. Two nights is just under $500!!! The room has no air conditioners, and when I called to ask about that- the person who answered the phone at the front desk first said, I donโt THINK the rooms have itโฆ I asked again and she said, โNO, the rooms donโt have A/Cโ. Also, no laundry- priceline says they have laundry on-site. They donโt! Very sketchy here, and Iโll see if I can post a picture of their very dirty โice machineโ. Definitely not worth the money. Staff seems very unaware. Lack of customer service. We will not be staying here again, even after they resume breakfast services. I would like to thank the awesome housekeeper who scrambled to clean the room last minute- it was very...
